Did Horizons actually have legit Imax screens?

I was looking at the blueprints for Horizons. I noticed the in the blueprint it doesn't show an actual rounded Imax, it shows 7 walls. I thought maybe it was the room housing the ominax but it was so big they built the building around it. I also noticed in a video that it looked like the screen was flat and the top was visible. Does anyone know anything about the old ominax scene?

Yep.

Legit? Yep. There were 2 Omnimax projectors, bought from IMAXcorp. There was also a 3rd on permenant lease incase one of the others broke. No kidding. That`s how they did things back then.

Most blueprints only show the room, not the 2 screens themselves. The building was designed around the Omnimax theatres. The structure was built and covered, the screen frames built inside (a geodisic framework) and the screens were hung last.

I see, its amazing how they worked the image around the omnimovers. Even you know the ride is gone I always try to figure it out.

It's a shame that Horizons is gone--but I think we could all agree on that.

Man, it really is fantastic, though.

Horizons was good one way and one way only and if it were to stay we would only look back to the early 90's and if not we would say its to outdated. Reflections of Earth fills in the cracks and something good will come again. There was a time to enjoy Horizons now its time to figure out the mind bending system running the ride.

Horizons was good the way it was and wouldn't be better any other way. If it were to stay it would be so outdated we would complain about it, if it were to change we would miss the old version. Let the memories end in 1999 as great memories. It was great once and could never be as great again.

Most likely they were shipped back to IMAX. I don't think IMAX actually sells their projectors, you can only lease one.

I think Imax is like wet design where they work with the design of the place and they build the parts to go with it. In 99 the Horizons projectors were probably considered dinosaurs.
