mid-stream? they had not even broken ground yet before the change took place...They were in no rush to get that project done...Ok I looked it up...they had broken ground...oops. but barely into the project...

Ground breaking is not "barely into the project", a LOT has to happen before ground breaking. The switch to the Mine Train was decided on not to long before construction started, everything else went forward while planning started for the Mine Train. This is why the Mine Train started construction later then everything else. If the Mine Train had been in the original plan I am pretty sure it would all have been built and opened at that same time.

They should keep Walt's plane in WDW. Perhaps they could use it over in EPCOT to fill Innoventions West with a nice history type ride of WDW or some sort of exibit about the history of WDW, etc. Oh, wait.... that would be too expensive. They'll probably just refurbish it, get it flight ready. Then fly it to DLP and then decommission it again for their backlot ride. Naaaa... No way that would be more expensive than trucking to EPCOT for... GASP a new experience.

But seriously, they could and should take the collective history bits from DHS and EPCOT and combine them together for a new Innoventions West experience. They could take Walt's plane, One Man's Dream exhibit and the history timeline of EPCOT from the hallway behind fountain view and make a really nice exhibit. They could make it a walk through for really cheap or an omnimover type ride for not so cheap.

That's actually not a bad idea. One Mans Dream fits in Epcot and would get it out of the way from the Pixar expansion. Innoventions is large enough that you could do something really nice in there. With it being Future World it would be a great place to show off concept art and models of things coming to WDW. And having it at the second busiest park might actually help drive some attendance to the other parks after people see the new additions coming to DAK and DHS.

I would like to see somewhere in one of the parks of concepts of rides/attractions etc that are coming, to be able to see say models and images of Pandora so you can get a sense of what is coming would be awesome and EPCOT fits that idea perfectly. They wouldn't necessarily have to show off everything as you want some things to be a mystery but a teaser or hint at what is to come (Like the recent TFA teaser trailer) would be great.

Found some plans filed recently for a DHS black box theater "flex space" on the parking lot between RnRollercoaster and Tower of Terror. Anyone know more? Seems curious for an additional space like to be constructed when DHS seems to have so many other spaces like this.

I saw the permit for this a few weeks ago and there is some speculation on the Permit thread. My original though was some sort of new temporary merchandise location for Star Wars weekend and such, but looking at the size of the building in these plans it appears to be some sort of performance space. This would lead me to believe the Premier theater is going away.

What's most interesting is that the permit has no expiration date, thus it expires in one year, meaning they plan to have this built pretty quick.

I like that idea a lot - One Man's Dream could be great in Innoventions

I agree. They use OMD for this, which is fine, but I would love to see a larger dedicated space for it, like they have in DCA, for future attractions. And I would agree that Innoventions would be a reasonable location.
