Iger wants proven properties attached to all expansions? Fine. Let's do some proven properties. How about megahits from Broadway? 
What if we expanded the existing New York theme (obliterated the "San Francisco" thing and LMA while we're at it), preserved Mama Melroses and Muppet Vision, and created a huge, new Times Square-themed area pushing out into Catastrophe Canyon and beyond? The answer is: awesomeness would happen. Because behind those exciting, brightly lit Times Square facades (which could also function as ads for upcoming Disney projects, even if they couldn't be anywhere as tall as the real things) would be a host of Broadway-themed attractions. Disney already owns a lot of mega-successful Broadway properties. Could it acquire the rights to a few more?
Here are some brainstorming ideas for Broadway-themed attractions:
* Phantom of the Opera flume ride - the musical is already practically a theme park attraction. Who wouldn't want to ride in a full-scale recreation of the tunnels beneath the Paris Opera?
* Les Miserable Seine night cruise - a slow moving boat ride could take guests through the dark and misty streets of Paris, through the threatening and harsh slums, past Eponine having an "On My Own" moment, and then past the barricades in the midst of a gun-blazing battle
* Mary Poppins' Flight dark ride - I'm sure Disney's got a bunch of plans for this already lying around somewhere...
* Julie Taymor's Lion King Behind-the-Scenes Exhibit - get to see the awesome props and costumes and mechanisms up-close and personal, reveal some of the mysteries behind the amazing sets
* Newsies dark ride - perhaps using the same vehicle concept as Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin, through the foggy world of turn-of-the-century New York City - or perhaps use choreographed vehicles like Honey Hunt?
* Wicked Defying Gravity coaster - an indoor family coaster themed after Elphaba's escape from Emerald City (I realize this would never ever happen as the musical is owned by Universal, but it's still fun to dream)
* Guys and Dolls Dulce de Leche Bar - another sweetened themed beverage for all
* My Fair Lady high tea serving, upper class restaurant
