DHS Hours - Why just 7 PM?

Just looking at the new hours being posted and seeing what changes I need to make to my itinerary and have a question. Can someone tell me why Studios closes every night in October at 7 PM? Why not stay open until at least 9 PM like Epcot? We like to eat at several restaurants there but it means making the trip there only to eat and not have time to do anything else afterward! Are they so hard up to get people to Fantasmic that they have to close everything else?

They just recently updated the calendars for July, so hopefully the October calendar will change as we get closer to the date as 7pm every night would just be ridiculous.

Because they can? Lately they have been taking the tact of under promising and then over delivering on park hours. List them as closing early, and then keep it open later if the anticipated crowds require it. It lets them get away with a single showing of Fantasmic. Also helps to drive people to Epcot during F&W fest in the evenings once DHS, MK (for MNSSHP) and AK all close early. It's all about the booze sales baby!

when we went in october we thought it would be 7, but they were open until 9 the day we went, not sure about the rest, didn't really check, so they might change them closer to the time?

Disney is piloting a new idea "31 days of spooky hard ticket events!" if successful they will be doing the same in December in MK "25 days of Mickey's Very Magical Christmas".

I have noticed on all our past Thanksgiving week trips that the posted hours for HS are always 7 but when we get there it has always changed to 10 with two showings of Fantasmic.

My one thought is to try and pack people over to Epcot for F&W so they drop tons of dough on food and drink since it is the next closest and easiest park to get to. But maybe I am being too cynical and there is no reason at all.

Exactly. I would not be too optimistic about them extending park hours (even though they have done this in the past). I have no interest in spending money at Epcot either on food or drink with fish and chips being the only exception. But as shown with Harambee nights - people with buy anything especially if disney slaps its name on it.

Maybe, but Disney has always had this thing about posting hours that are way earlier than what they actually turn out to be regardless of the time of year. Thanksgiving week they always publish crazy early hours and I'm always thinking seriously people it's a holiday week but then when you get there they have been seriously extended. For example last year they had the latest posted MK hours as 10:00 pm when we actually got there the earliest MK closed the whole trip was midnight (and that was the two nights of MVMCP). I don't know what there reasoning is for publishing the early hours.
