DHS Halloween Party

I've heard quite a bit of talk about a NBC themed DHS Halloween party to rival Universal's HHN. I thought it might b enice to get some ideas for how, realistically, the party would work in the park.

I would like to see all of Sunset Boulevard remain largely the same at night. I think that the TOT queue would make the perfect place to do a haunted-style attraction line. Make the line itself become a haunted house, with another queue line to enter the house itself. At the end of the house, you would actually enter the attraction, to have it become one huge, cohesive thing.

Also, possibly reworking Fantasmic with more emphasis on the villains for a Halloween theme. Our Fantasmic has been long behind Disneyland's since it began. Maybe a fresh theme would spice it up a little...?

Any other ideas?

The area around Muppets and Pizza Planet could be turned into a creepy New York setting with a gothic-like theme. That's just one idea. I think it would be a monumental step if Disney did something like this, which I truly hope they do, but the issue is blending all the decor in the park so that during the day its not frightening and won't change the parks appearance(besides giving it a Halloween theme).

I think what could set Disney above and beyond would be that they wouldn't fear taking risks with an event like this. I believe they would totally go all-out in the theming/execution aspect and, if they decide to do it, would blow everyone away.

I hope that some sort of middle ground could be found between HHN and MNSSHP. I appreciated some of the artistry and staging at HHN but I fail to see the appeal of placing yourself in an intentionally unpleasant environment. Nothing similar has ever existed in Disney parks. It would seem to be possible to create a more cohesive, mature theme than MNSSHP without the mindless 'cheap scare for the sake of it' culture at HHN. Unlike some Disney fans, I have always visited Universal with an open mind and like it for what it is. HHN was one of the most dissapointing theme park experiences I have had in the US.

It's interesting then how it is the most popular halloween event every year AFAIK

lol, I can see this thread is dying off pretty quick. I'm a halloween freak who loves the excitement of scares and haunted houses, so I would love to see something like this at Disney. It can't not be a possibility seeing that Disney created Pleasure Island solely for entertaining adults. A halloween event like this would be sooo much fun! Please WDW, hear our cries! lol

I would love to see DHS (the theme park formerly known as MGM) "taken over" by the residents of Halloween town (the land in Nightmare before Christma) from mid-Septmeber through Halloween. This way we could have a creepy, yet whimsical, Halloween celebration at WDW that would not scare away families. Imagine the characters of the film, like the vampires and witches, interacting with guests, scaring the teenagers, and making jokes with the younger kids. I think that would be alot of fun and could be day or night...

Ice Age did well at the Box Office. The animation was spectacular. <cough>.
My point was that I think HHN is excellent in some respects. I am personally not a fan of the jump-out-boo kind of scare ploy. It is otherwise well executed.

I agree that Nightmare before Christmas has vast potential. It could easily skip into the Christmas season with some small modification like its Haunted Mansion counterpart in Anaheim.

Also am I the only one who would like to see the hat turn into a witches hat for the celebration?

that would be perfect! cept for the adults and other people who just dont "get" nightmare. it would attract a lot of teens, and even families. becuase, it wouldnt be all blood and guts scary, but still, spooky =]

(from another post)
the ToT que thing sounds a little rough though. i think maybe some people hiding in the mist and plants would be cool, but not a full on haunted house...

my boyfriend and i plan to go to next years MNSSHP so it would pretty darn cool if disney did something at DHS next year
