From this last batch, I only got MMLC 2 and Donald. And June can't get here fast enough. Oh, I mean June because, it'll take at least 2 weeks for Amazon's lil' package to reach me down here. Notice the "at least" bit? :fork:

There's no Amazon.com distribution center in Brazil, eh? :animwink:

Yeah, we're at the mercy of Post Office speedness. And the problem isn't the US-Brazil part, it's the Brazil-my home part.

I was planning to buy my WD Treasures tonight from The Disney Store, but I did not make it on time....

But later tonight, when I stopped at the 24-hour Wal-Mart Super Center, I looked and.... THERE THEY WERE (for essentially the same price).

I bought the Tomorrowland one that I have been waiting for (with the EPCOT film), but plan to support the Disney Store in buying the rest later.

But I noticed something else: they were NOT numbered on the outside, as previous waves were. I also do not believe that the previous waves were sold at Wal-Mart.

Well, I have now edited this post, since I have opened my tin and found that the numbering is on a paper inside. The tin is not numbered any more, but the certificate inside is.

They numbered mine 78,776 of 105,000 of the total set for "Tomorrowland." This is even less than were run for the previous waves.

So, I guess it is still limited, but will have wide exposure at Wal-Mart. I am glad that more people will see them, but I am surprised that there are enough to go around, as big as Wally-World is.

And will they be as collectible as others were, I wonder? (Most unavaiable titles selling well above original price on e-bay.)

I know that the war propaganda films were considered highly collectible before today, and I expected that one to become very valuable.

Anyhoo... just some thoughts.

Maybe tomorrow I can let you know what I think of the content!

[I would like to see anyone who buys the Tomorrowland one here, comment on the EPCOT film, especially if they have never seen it.... Perhaps a separate thread for that...]

I had seen on DVDToons that the tins were no longer numbered on the outside. I believe that's because the Treasures are starting to be sold outside the US, and it makes it a LOT easier for them to produce more if the tins aren't numbered. Right now we've got MMLC 1, which runs for pretty much the same price: 70 reais = 24 dollars. So if someone out there really wants it but doesn't wanna pay 100 bucks on eBay, lemme know. I wish I had known this back when I got my copy... Shelled out 85 bucks when I could've gotten it for 24 and even have Portuguese dubbing and subtitles for my fiancée!
Oh, and in case you're wondering, it's region 4, obviously, but most players can be easily unlocked nowadays with a simple code punched into the remote control. The artwork is in Portuguese, but you can watch all cartoons and menus in English, of course.

Well, I went to my Disney Store today (the only one left in Richmond), and they had the Tomorrowland, Donald, and MMILC 2 Treasures... but no Disney at War! When I asked, the manager said that they had not gotten them, and she said, "No one has them."

When I told her that Wal-Mart had them, she seemed upset and maybe a little hurt. This was news to her, as she had called other Disney stores who also said that they did not get them.

So, I do not know if this is a shipping problem, but it does seem awkward that this collectible and very unique material would be in Wal-Mart next to the Power Rangers and everything else, but not at the Disney Store!

Odd.

Also, I noticed that many of the tins for all of the series were dented, both at Wal-Mart and at the Disney Store. They must have been handled roughly all the way around.

Anyhoo... I will report about the content when I get a chance to watch more.

The EPCOT film is still amazing to me.

Also, I did notice online that the 7-piece earlier set, that I wrote about a page or so ago, was available now at www.disneystore.com for $169, but not individually and not at the store. So, if you missed some of the prior ones, you may wish to order this set. The earlier Mickey and Davey Crocket ones were selling at a substantial gain on e-bay not too long ago... (Anyone buying the war one or MMILC2 this time should also consider buying an extra one and keeping it in good shape for trade later if you do e-bay, etc. I believe that they will appreciate also.)

yea, all of the war tins were dented a lot at best buy!

They only had 4 though! I got there at 10am (when the open) and they only had tomorrowland and "war" to choose from.

That's weird. Just like the Disney Store not having the war one.

The two Wal-Marts that I have seen lately had all four.

Buy the war one if you are the least bit interested, because the films are truly unique and rare. I think they will become highly collectible later.

But I think all serious WDW fans should also see the EPCOT film on the Tomorrowland set. It shows Walt's original vision for Disney World. There is also an interview with Marty Sklar about Walt's futurism. A must-see for understanding where Epcot came from.

That's highly unlikely since 250,000 of "On The Front Lines" were made. No other Walt Disney Treasures set has been produced in that high of a number!:D

You may be right, Woody.

But I also wonder if they didn't make that many just because of the perceived demand. My Disney Store already said that they didn't get them.

But, anyway, they are still a good long-term, personal investment, anyway, I think, because they are historically significant and worth sharing with later generations.

I agree with you. "On The Front Lines" is a historical treasure trove.

BTW, Woody, (and everyone else) let me know what you think of the war movies and the Tomorrowland/EPCOT stuff when you get a chance to watch it... and I will do the same. I am curious to find out what you think about the films and what stands out for you.

I value your opinion, and many on this board. So, it might be an interesting discussion.
