We have a small drive in theater several miles up the road from us and go a couple of times per year. It is a fun blast from the past.

OK here is a double bloom hibiscus, not from a botanical garden, but a container in our yard. They have to be brought inside during the winter, but they seem to survive in the basement.

Gorgeous. I’ve purchased 2-4 hibiscus trees every summer since moving here. Those flowers are one of the things I miss most about Florida... I sit on my deck with coffee every morning Spring-fall, seeing the hibiscus there just makes the day start well. Everyone told me “Bring them inside during the winter.” I tried the first year. They died. Haven’t tried since. How do you do it?

Here’s a few random flower pics that I took last month..

Side note, I purchased a good Nikon DSLR when my son was an infant. Bought a ton of accessories and watched countless “how to” videos.
Went to the zoo one day and left the camera bag in the stroller while we were inside an exhibit. Came out, put kiddo in stroller, and a short time later realized the camera was gone.
Seeing other people’s photos makes me wish that I wasn’t too cheap to invest in another one.
I hate carrying things around, scared that I’ll lose it again.

Here are a few (several) photos of trees at Chacchoben Ruins. Othón P Blanco, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

I love trees and always feel a bit humbled by them, but this place caused such a sense of awe and humbleness which I won’t forget any time soon. Our tour guide was amazing. He talked about picturing ourselves returning to our homes after several decades, but the jungle had overgrown into our homes. It was an amazing surreal moment. The photos don’t do these trees justice.

We just bring the containers in and put them in front of some basement Windows where they get some sunlight. They kinda go dormant and the leaves fall off and we only water a little bit. Come late spring we bring the pitiful looking things back out and they spring back to life. Got several we have had for at least five years now. Just lucky I guess.

Those banyan trees are nice in the Florida pics. What kind of trees are those in the Mexico pics?

I wish I could remember all of the names offhand, I do have a few of them written down somewhere in a bag that still hasn’t been unpacked.lol. I also took a lot of videos of our guide that I’ve yet to watch, I know the names are in a few of the vids.

One was a gum tree.. one was a poisonous tree, the anecdote grew right next to it (props to nature for that foresight), the scraggly one that’s latched on to a larger tree is called a Spider Tree, it kills the host which is terribly sad.

Seeing the massive roots entertained with the stones of homes belonging to a once alive culture was so neat.

Oh, here’s one more Flower Pic from Roatan.
I wish I would have taken a forward facing pic.

Some more Hilton Head pictures from me. These are from Harbor Town. They are very proud of the lighthouse.
