Despicable Me - How it Should've Been Done

I think that a dark ride of the film would've been more suitable for Despicable Me than a simulator.

The Show Scenes Could Be:
1. Gru freezing people in line for coffee
2. The triplets selling cookies to Vector
3. Gru adopting the triplets
4. The triplets uncomfortable at home
- Is this annoying? *Agnes makes weird sound*
- Them going to sleep in the bombs shells
5. The family bonding
- Fun with minions also
6. Gru on the moon seeing the recital ticket
7. Gru gets the triplets back
8. The family together on top of the city looking at the moon like the ending

What do you think?

While a dark ride would have been nice, I'm glad they replaced Jimmy Neutron rather than E.T.

Exactly. And one day, ME will be replaced with the next big animated flavor of the week. ME is simply not the kind of property that will ever be deemed a "classic."

One of the unique aspects of simulator rides is how easily - and cheaply - they can be updated without gutting the whole thing. Star Tours, Mission Space, Back to the Future/Simpsons, Fantastic/Jimmy/Me, Spiderman, have all received significant updates while maintaining most of the same hardware. Whether its tweaking the movement, or changing the entire theme, the simulator lends itself to convenient recycling.

If a park is going to install a new dark ride, I would hope that the subject property has more staying power, and thus a longer shelf life, than ME.

First time to Universal in many years but, no way we were waiting 80 minutes for a cartoon simulator ride. We could've hit it upon entering the park at open, but it was 30 minutes then and the kids waited to go on ET, Simpsons and MIB... which combined had a total wait time of 35 minutes.

As a side note, our vacation was cut short after 1 day, by a death in the family, so who knows if we will ever make it IOA!:(
We probably should have hit IOA instead of US... but who would've known.

I saw videos on YouTube of the dance party after the ride. Imagine working there and having to dance it up every 10 minutes or so. Wonder if dirty dancing is allowed. wooo

I thought the ride was great, but the pre-show was what set it apart. Brilliant sets and very funny videos. Normally I'm not crazy about Universal pre-shows (Shrek, ET, T2, Twister), but this one works.
