DESSERT - typed this on my phone!

We are heading to the World Nov 16 (hubbys Bday) I want to do something special and different. We arrive early that day, and i'm planning a nice lunch and a nice dinner. I wasn't planning on doing a Park that night, but I would to do something special. I am also trying to plan a few more surprises for him and one thing that popped into my head was the Dessert Party at MK. Those that have done it - what do you think?

Also - is there any dessert party or something similar for Illuminations?

DO IT :) if you can. You'll have to book soon (but no more than 60 days out) as it fills up quickly. Also it may not be offered every night you are there due to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Just checked, it IS offered on the 16th (other days also available). We did it on the 18th. of this month. Stormed like crazy BUT it is under cover so we were ok. We have seen Wishes dozens of times but this was the best. No looking over heads. Best view of Wishes ever. You do however not see the stuff on the castle as you are viewing from the side. Desserts? To die for. Lots of choices and they kept putting them out. You might want to skip dinner or do it early so you can eat to your hearts desire. ;) We are also going to be there on Nov. 16th with a couple of extra family members this time. Not sure when we do the dessert party as we will be doing the Christmas party.

Yes - I had actually priced it and everything for the 16th. It would be for myself, hubby our two boys, 6 years & 9 months (when we go). I've seen pictures of the desserts and I think it's worth the price to watch Wishes comfortable and not deal with the masses especially with a baby! I would have to add an extra day of Park time (which is only a few dollars). We are planning on a light lunch - and dinner at Bongo's at 5....but if we have park tickets, i'd move it to an early dinner at 4 and hopefully be at MK by 6ish and enjoy an our of Park time before Wishes.

I don't think there is any dessert party for Illuminations, unless you have a private function. I hear the Wishes dessert party is good though.

I thought so. I know I had read something about it somewhere but it was only for a Grand Gathering.

Thanks!! :)

I did the MK dessert party and I really enjoyed even though sweets are not really our thing. The offerings were tasty, fresh and there was a great amount of food. No matter where you're seated, be sure to move closer to the rail to get a good spot for the fireworks though, it really was the one thing that bothered since I thought people would stay on their assigned table.

At the very least...it is nice to be able to relax at fireworks time. While everyone at the party will crowd the rail for the show, there is plenty of space for everyone. It's just so much more relaxing than having to deal with the crazy crowds outside of the party. That being said, it's not my favorite vantage point for the show and wouldn't do this every single trip, but it's nice now and then to see Wishes from a peaceful spot that isn't outside the park or in an odd area. As for the desserts...good, but not all that different from much of what you'd see at the dinner buffets...although I LOOOOOOOVED the mango shooters. :hungry:

No party for illuminations.

The dessert party has a nice view of the fireworks! You don't have to claim your spot an hour ahead, either. :) People do still jostle for position at the railing, though.

We were a little disappointed in the treats themselves. We didn't think they were very good. If I'm going to take in the calories, I want yumminess!! They also didn't have any pop available - not even to buy. I had to leave, walk over to Casey's and buy one, then go back.

It wasn't an experience I'd pay for again, so I don't really recommend it, but I think everyone should try it for themselves. Some people like those desserts!

You will not see the parade from the party. You might catch glimpses, but it is not the place to be to see that.

It was a great location to watch wishes and we were lad we didn't have to fight for a seat, but the desserts were just okay. Yes I ate them and they were good, but nothing special.. But saying that I would do it again! Unfortunately there is nothing for illuminations, unless you have a private function or can find one to be a part of, such as we were able to book a disney food blog snack attack party during illuminations for our upcoming trip in October, not sure how often they do thos tho!

I felt like we paid $100 to have a nice place to sit and watch Wishes. The desserts were nothing that we hadn't already had at other locations. That was a downer. Some people love it and think its a reasonable price. I thought it was a very expensive ticket to a 15 minute fireworks show. But honestly, you have to decide for yourselves. You may love it. Happy birthday to the hubby! :)

We are sweets people. More so my husband than me, I am so picky!! Yeah i've heard that is a downside but then again we won't be in the middle of the crowd. :)

My DH loves sweets and has been one of his favorite events. I'm not a sweet fan, but I found treats to enjoy. We had great seats for the fireworks too.

Yeah my husband too - he will eat any sweet! I am more picky - no nuts, not a fan of fruity thing. lol. I'm sure him and my son will have a blast eating up! lol

Yeah i know it's NOT the best location, but like you said not being in the crowd will help. We will have our then 6 year old and 9 month old, plus a stroller. I also plan on doing it one of the nights EMH are offered, so it will be GREAT to not deal with the masses leaving the park! And why not try it just once! :) I will be happy eating the creme brulees! (MY FAVVV DESSERT!):)

Yeah - I've always told hubby I want to do something NEW each trip. IF we like it GREAT, if not at least we can say we gave it a shot. Were still debating the MVMCP - not sure if we want to spend the money. We may save it for another trip.

Were not a huge soda family so them not having is not a big deal for us. I am glad that they have milk - my son will LOVE going up and refilling his cup! lol. Were fine with not seeing the parade...we'll catch that on our other MK day :)

Yeah - but honestly to not deal with the crazy of the crowds for ONE time....i'll pay it! it actually came out to about $65 for four of us (one doesn't count) and i think it'll be a nice way to celebrate the hubbys birthday....it's the only thing that's not OVERLY cheesy that he will enjoy! lol.:)

Thanks Everyone for all the help!!!!!! I officially booked it this morning and I am excited. I had to hint about it to the hubby - had to make sure he would enjoy it. He LOVES Disney, but does find some of the stuff a bit cheesey :jawdrop:. But he said that it actually sounds like a great thing! So I cannot wait!!!

78 days before DISNEY!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

MNSSHP is one of the best things Disney does all year.

If that choice were in the mix, I wouldn't think twice. MNSSHP!!

But if you go with the dessert party, I wish you well and hope you enjoy it! :)

We LOVED MNSSHP! We have done it twice. Won't do it again until our youngest is a bit older - he'll be 9 months this trip. Same with MVMCP

I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't do it again. I rather a couple elbows to the side then pay that price again. I guess for us it was a one time deal. The desserts were good but not great. I'd say if you wanna do something and you're going to be there for the holidays do MVMCP. The parade is great, the hot chocolate is great, the cookies are great. Should I keep going lol?

You will not be disapointed. Yes it is a 15 minute fireworks show but you are seated an hour BEFORE wishes starts and you can start eating as soon as you are seated. I did not like everything they had but there were so many choices that I found many many things that I did like. It is under cover so you will not get wet. Yes people do stand at the rail. They have to. As I said it is under cover and many tables sit far back from the rail and those people pay the same as people closest to the rail. They would see nothing if they did not go to the rail. They tell everyone to watch from the rail. Finally there IS a Dessert Party at Epcot for Illuminations on select nights during Food and Wine. It cost twice as much as the Wishes Party and although you eat inside you go out for the fireworks so if it rains you get wet. It is located between Canada and the UK and most nights I have seen Illuminations that is the direction the smoke is going.

Yeah I am very happy I booked it. I feel like it's something nice to do for the husband for his B-Day as well as something new to experience at Disney! As for people going up to the rails and not being seated - i'd rather that, that people getting in front of you for a parade! lol. Cannot wait!!!!! 74 days to go!!!

We've done the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party the past two visits we've made and will definitely do it again in April. It's not just the desserts that attract us, but the roominess as we watch Wishes and the parade. You are never rushed by the cast members to leave the terrace since the whole point is that you are paying to get out of the crowd. Everyone has their own opinion, but the TTDP is a 'must do' for us.
