MARILYN MANSON

"Luci In The Sky With Demons"

I'll spread me open, stuck to my ribs
Are all your infants in abortion cribs
You run like roaches, and you try to die
I know your poison, in our space we'll lie
To an obscene god we will dance and spit
The skin is thin, in our beds we sit
We take off our rings and we kneel
Our scabbed knees are so slow to heal
Sketch a little key hole
For looking-glass people
I don't want to be me
I don't want to fear, no
Momma's got a scarecrow
Got to let the corn grow
A man can't always reap what he sows
(Cut, cut, cut in pantomime, mime, mime
I'll be your devil if you'll admit you're mine)
Leave yourself to be ultra-here
The chill of fall is always crawling near
Spiders in the flowers
Never know their smell
The barbers here know secrets
They will never tell
(Cut, cut, cut in pantomime, mime, mime
I'll be your devil if you'll admit you're mine)

There is a Lucy in the sky...with Diamonds song because my one friend sang it all day long...drove me nuts too! Who was the other rock star he used?

I think Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was a Beatles song or just John Lennon I'm not sure.

I'm sure MM was well aware of this song when he did his version.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was indeed a Beatles song (not just John Lennon, though Lennon did lead vocals on the song)

And I was going to answer the question of "who was the other rock star" but the answer completely slipped my mind! :hammer:

Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean was said to have been modeled after Rolling Stone Keith Richards. Richards will have a small part as Jack Sparrow's father in PotC II. :)

This really surprised me when I first read this thread, but after seeing a preview for the movie today I can believe it. Let's just say, he didn't really look like I had expected.

That's him! I KNEW the name Richard was in there some where. The only name I could think of though was Richard Simmons, lol!
So is it official now that Keith will play Jack's dad? Last I heard they were still trying to get him on board. That'd be awesome, even if it is a small role. :sohappy:

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was also redone by Elton John.

I may be old, but I was getting pretty scared there when no one could name the Beatles as originators for that song. :lookaroun It is on the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band LP...owing much of it's inspiration to recreational pharmaceuticals  .

Me three! And I'm 19, so the youth isn't totally lost :animwink: I was fed healthy doses of The Beatles by my dad as I was growing up so, to me, they are the ultimate band of all times!

I've see a few trailers for the new Willie Wonka, and I have to say that they truly scared me! I thought the original was rather quirky, and Gene Wilder just a bit short of a full load, but the Depp version...looks like leaving your kids with Michael Jackson for the weekend.

To add to folks not knowing the Beatles doing "Lucy in the Sky..." I thought I was being clever mentioning Sgt. Pepper as an LP....I guess that is lost from the lexicon as well... :dazzle: Time to put that down payment on the senior center I guess...

That's sorta the same thing we said!

When Depp was interviewed about the role of Willy Wonka he had stated that he wanted to take the character into the complete opposite direction of Wilder's Wonka so that it could be a "new" character for the world and for artistic reason's. Depp's Wonka is supposed to be more closely related to the character found in the original book.
Aside from his very logical choice as an actor to change the character, the reproduction of Willy Wonka performed as only gene wilder could have done it would have been an insult to the viewer and to remakes in general. He needed to go in another direction to creat a fresh Wonka world. An actor of less caliber would not have been able to do this. I'd even go so far as to say that most actor's would have been unable to recreate this particular role without the influence of Mr. Wilder. But then again, no one has ever questioned Depp's talent or range.
It will be difficult for the viewer to see the new film as a seperate entity from the old film. It will also prove to be difficult to be objectional to this film considering J.D.'s rather... flamboyant performance...
