Deposit for Booking A Trip

I am looking to actually get my trip for December booked so I don't have any excuses to spend the money elsewhere, but I will be using my tax return to pay for most of the trip, which I won't have until March at some point. If I wanted to book now, what would the minimum dollar amount I would have to put down? I've seen a few numbers bounced around, so I figured some people here might know.

I'm pretty sure it is something like $200 down (on a Magic Your Way package booking) and then the rest 45 days before your arrival, or one room night's rate plus tax for a room only reservation and then the balance due at check in. Either way, I think you have to put the money down 7-14 days after you make your reservation.

For a package (room, tickets and/or dining) the deposit is $200. Balance is due 45 days prior to arrival.
For a room only the deposit is equal to 1 nights stay. Balance is due upon arrival.
Airfare through Disney must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Excellent! 200$ it is. That's really decent and means I can put down a payment very soon rather than waiting until next month. Last time I planned a trip, I was like "I am gonna go!" and then every time I could save the money, it had to be used for something else. Not This Time!

Its great just putting down a deposit and paying down the rest when you get a little extra cash. You choose when to make the payments and how much just so its paid off 45 days before if you have a package. Room only balance is due at check in.

I am doing the Magic Your Way package (since while I like the resorts, for me it's all about the parks) and I'll be doing airfare separately when that time comes, then doing the DME.

That this trip is actually coming together (and seems to be timed as I prepare to graduate from Film School) is seriously awesome.

Booking a flight through Disney is the equivalent of actually giving them an extra $500 for every two people in your party for no reason. The flights are double the price even for the same flight through the operator...stick to the resort / parks and you'll be good with the $200

Can you provide an example of such an occurrence? I have compared the prices of flights through Disney to aggregate sites like Kayak, Priceline, Travelocity, etc as well as directly through the airlines hundreds of times. While it is true that you can often beat Disney's prices, I have never seen the discrepancy even approaching the numbers you claim on an identical, domestic flight. Typically the difference was less that $50 per ticket.

Well I don't know if it's the season we go...but I've checked every year and it has always ranged from $250 - 500 per person more (I didn't check this year, but then again the past five have been very discouraging)...and this is an EWR to MCO flight which is EXTREMELY common...
