Deluxe Resort Question

Other than Shades of Green I've only stayed in a deluxe resort. The first 2 times at OKW but usually at BC or BCV, mainly because of location. We don't spend a lot of time at the resort, our favorite parks are Epcot & HS so it is really nice that the hotel is close to the park and don't need a long bus ride back when we are ready for a break.

I'm thinking it's going to be the Beach Club. I love the idea of being near the Boardwalk, Epcot & Hollywood Studios. Probably do a split stay and do the second half at Beach Club. It's one I've never stayed at so it'll be a nice treat I think.

You'll love it.

We stay at SSR - our DVC home resort, and its brill being just over the lake from Downtown Disney. We have also stayed in CBR, our only mod visit, and from what i can remember, there was nothing to complain about, the only issue that we could potentially come up with was its location, being located near Typhoon Lagoon meant it was brilliant for water park days, but an extra few mins per trip to anywhere else!

The thing we find with deluxe resort is the theming is more... sophisticated (for want of a better word), and the staff seem to be more interested in you - hence they give better and more relevant perks and advice!

I will be at a studio when at the Beach club villas, do they have an actual balcony that you can sit on? Or is it one of the other kinds that looks like you can only stand on and doesn't have much room. Would be nice if it was at least big enough for me to sit on and have a coffee, but no big deal if not. Just curious

I think the balcony depends on which room you end up in, I don't think they are consistent per room type (just from looking at the architecture of the buildings) but I could be wrong, I've only stayed there once. I love the deluxe resorts for all the previous reasons stated, the higher end themeing (versus the in-your-face themeing of the values), the higher end product, the staff, and generally more adult things to do (Boardwalk - Jellyrolls, etc)

I personally like WL because it is close to MK by boat and also easy to hop on the monorail to go on to Epcot. I spend most of my time at these two parks. I use the resorts airline check in as well as DME. It makes things so convenient when it comes to both check in and luggage handling. The cost for this deluxe resort is a lot less than what I spend at the Grand Californian at DL and I love the theming.

I've stayed at deluxe resorts 2 times, 2 at Poly and 1 at Wilderness Lodge. I have to say only things I've noticed a difference in is the size of the room being bigger of course with better furniture of course. The toiletries are better, but other than that there's not much else room wise. The resorts have the monorail except for Wilderness Lodge and the Epcot ones. Really there's not much else to talk about. The resorts are more upscale looking. Like previous comments really its only for those making the resort a part of the vacation experience. Also the value and mod resorts have more families as compared to the Deluxe resorts. I would go with the value or moderates for the amount of time your going to be in the room if you just plan on using it to sleep 8 hrs in. Only drawback with those rooms , their the size of a red roof room or econo lodge. If your only going to use it for sleeping, the extra money you save can go towards food and souvenirs.

Also, I've had a couple of bad experiences at the airport check in desk at the past couple of moderate hotels so that I am hesitant to even bother trying to use it and just go to the airport normally. The cast member got confused and couldn't figure something out, so just sent us to the airport and said they couldn't do it for us. (We were on a domestic flight on JetBlue) Has happened more than once now and not ever given an explanation. Anyway, to make a long story short, do you think it would make a difference staying at a deluxe resort? Or just head to the airport and check in there which I probably will do anyway.

I do believe that the airport check in desk isn't staffed by WDW CMs, but rather a 3rd party agency. Can't you check in online for most airlines now? Essentially just dropping off your luggage at the check in desk?
