so i noticed....per say that the animal kingdom lodge and the poly...basic rooms are cheaper than the contemporary and grand Floridian. and than i also noticed the boardwalk and the other resort or two (cant think of the name!) located just outside Epcot are also in there own pricing structure?

now i can guess the AKL is far off by itself on prop and thus looses some of the appeal why is the poly any diff? it is on the loop?

AKL and WL have smaller rooms.

Poly and GF and Contemporary are on the monorail loop. What Contemporary rooms are you comparing against? Tower? or Garden etc?

Epcot area resorts - Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn should all be priced in the same range. They have different room sizes too; location also plays a factor.

haha that actually seems like a draw to me, you aren't dealing with mob of people walking between resorts or hopping the restraints as much. (beaches and cream for instances has created mob scenes in the past where Epcot guests would crowd for a legendary kitchen sink)

but to be honest they are all great resorts. personally if I wasn't mooching off a friends expiring DVC points for my trip I would probably choose animal kingdom lodge even if it cost more, just to be by Boma, because after Boma it's like my body forgot how to walk Im so full. but really the prices may be based on trying to encourage bookings not because any one is particularly better, but merely is booking faster than others. but I think an stress gain all have their merits

it wall all just curiosity....i cant afford a deluxe were staying at CBR...and the only reason i don't settle for the value is i would rather stay away from roving gangs of Brazilians at my resort at 12am. but my son is young...and wont remember anything yet. our next trip i would like to stay at a deluxe....as i lived in daytona i have been in many of them as family visited we would travel over there however the only true disney vaca i had was when i was nine at all star. (and that one my grandmother saved for years to be able to do)

Love WL and AKL, even though the rooms are smaller. There is so much to do there, we don't really spend that much time in the rooms. Both resorts have awesome lobbies and other hidden areas to relax if you need more room. Just a thought!

I'm not sure what you mean. "Per se" means "in and of itself"...is that how you were trying to use it?

The AKL and WL rooms are cheaper because they have smaller rooms and aren't as popular as the others.

The rooms are priced by service and popularity. The Poly is on the monorail loop. The AKL isn't really "far away from everything" like people always say it is. It is two minutes from CSR and nobody complains about CSR being so far away. And it's closer to some parks than other hotels. Why people always say it is so far away is something I'll never understand.

Hope that helps!!

Nostalgia....oh and because that magical world DISNEY is included ;)
We are a long time Poly family. LOVE it (fireworks on the beach, transportation options, bigger rooms, nicer beds, awesome pools, beautiful scenery, etc etc etc) Changing resorts this year, and doing WL and can't wait!! There are several draws to deluxes (ours is basically for transportion options and lots of memories)

This has been my take on the pricing structure of the deluxes:

The GF/Poly/CR are on the MK monorail loop. That puts them in a class by themselves as the premier LOCATIONS on WDW property. Within that category, the GF is WDW's flagship resort; hence, is the most expensive. It looks to me as if the Poly is second, as it has best themeing amenities, and its overall pricing reflects this. Comtemp is third, as it has rooms that are actually less than those at the Poly (by $100 per night). Now you can also get really expensive rooms here at the top of the tower with a MK view, but those are few compared to half the building facing the other way, and the lower floors. This was especially true before the tear down of the other garden wing.

Wilderness Lodge is in MK resort area, but not on the loop, which means it needs to be priced below the other 3.

BC/YC/Boardwalk are Epcot area resorts. While also prime real estate, the MK is still number 1, hence they must be priced in a slightly lower bracket.

AKL offers no walking distance park commute, or special transport, such as boats or monorail. What it lacks in location and transportation, it offsets with a unique ammenity in its animal viewing. This is enough to bring it up to the level of the WL, the other low end priced Deluxe.

Pretty much every resort on property has moved over to their own pricing structure to a point. It is not uncommon to find standard rooms at the All Stars at one price, Pop slightly higher than the All Stars and AoA slightly higher than Pop. You will see the same dynamic at all resort levels, even morose when you start looking at promotions. This is simply due to the popularity of a particular resort and Disney being able to charge a premium for it.

IMHO deluxe rooms are nicer. I like the "indoor" corridors. The pools are well themed ( but some mods have nicely themed pools too). My boys like to check out the slides and compare them!;) The restaurants on site are better than just a "food court". The convenience of the monorail makes it most expensive!
WL has a boat launch to MK which is nice. AK has only bus transport, but the theming is outstanding as well as the restaurants!:D
BC/YC and BW are all very close to DHS and EPCOT. The pool @ BC/YC is largest on WDW property : Stormalong Bay. They also have some of the best restaurants!:)
Bottom line: convenience, theme, restaurants, transportation factor into the cost of the different deluxe resorts.:D
