Dining Plan changes for 2020

There are reports today that the Deluxe Dining Plan is now showing credits for adults and children separately.

This means sharing credits, or paying for guests’ meals, becomes slightly trickier to manage, and also that they can ensure kids are ordering off the kid’s menus (or that someone in the party is).

And to follow up, it looks as if QS credits are split between adults and children on the other Dining Plans. Previously only TS credits were shown separately.

I guess its doesn’t make that much of a difference does it? Unless your kid was going to order off the main menu and not kids menu?

You're right -- they're simply enforcing the longstanding rule that children must order from the children's menu, and closing a loophole. It's just that the loophole has been present for so long, and so many people have come to take it for granted, that some guests are going to have to make some big adjustments to the way they order and eat. A lot of bloggers with "DDP tips and tricks" lists are going to have to amend their past advice, too!

Of course, if you're not someone who relishes (no pun intended) ordering and eating within the bounds of a complex set of rules and limitations, the DDP isn't for you, anyway. ;)

So there are a couple more examples being reported.

Firstly at Casey’s where there isn’t a kid’s menu. In the past the official policy was (and still is technically) if there was no kid’s menu a child could order from the adult menu.

But because there is no kid’s meal button, the system couldn’t process it as a kid’s meal. Their choice was to use an adult credit or pay OOP. This may be unintentional but for the moment ther will be this issue at any place where there is no kid’s menu (like the Fish and Chip window at the U.K. pavilion).

Secondly where people have asked and been told that the trade in value for a child QS credit will be one snack, instead of three. We’ll have to wait a few days before we get confirmation, because for now people will be using their snack credits. Once they run out of them they may try to trade credits for snacks.

Only problem I have with the dining plan is I cannot eat the food I get. I have a reduced appetite and only eat one meal a day. So the next time I go, it will be without DDP.

I'd love to order from the kid's menu but the adult menu has the tastier foods.

It is just easier to have everything paid up front.

Is it possible to update the title of a thread?

Changes are being reported daily and it isn’t just the Deluxe Plan that’s affected.

All plans now differentiate between child and adult credits, and each credit can only be used for a meal off the age-appropriate menu.

Child credits cannot be traded for snacks at all.

Casey’s is said to be introducing a child meal, but it won’t be updated on menu boards etc immediately, so you need to ask for it.

And STK still refusing to accept the dining plan for payment.

As the OP you can update the title yourself.

Click on the blue box next to “Unwatch” above your first post in this thread. Then click on “Edit Thread”. You’ll be able to change the title to whatever you want.

Thanks, I knew it was possible but couldn’t work out how! 🙂
