You do not have a tablet? I usually recommend bringing comics or movies.. way better than waste money on overpriced internet. (note that I do not know the real prices of delta, but everything on board seems way too expensive when flying with United)

I've flown most of the major airlines over the years. Delta is no worse than any of them. Hopefully you are on a non-stop flight. If you do have to connect (change planes) for a fearful flyer, I would recommend NOT using Atlanta as your connection point or leave at least 2 hours to connect. Atlanta is a large, crowded airport (and for those of us with warped senses of humor, DELTA is an acronym for Delay Everyone's Luggage Through Atlanta), and if you're not familiar with it, you want to leave time for delays and finding you way to the next gate (though the underground train between terminals can be fun). Delta also connects through Minneapolis which is a large airport and can be a hike between terminals so I would leave additional time when connecting there as well. I haven't been through any other Delta Hub.

If the flight has wifi, you can use the Delta smartphone app for free, and the last time I flew the app had a mapping function to show where the aircraft is, which was kind of cool.

Generally I don't pay for wifi on a flight...it is rather expensive. I tend to preload a movie or two on my tablet or smartphone.

If you wind up going with United, SOME aircraft have an on-board audio channel that lets you listen in to your flight's communication with air traffic controllers which is cool.

Happy travels.

We connected in New York (from halifax) into orlando on delta and had no issues! Made for a long flight with no tv, but no issues at the airport or on the flight

DizPlutoFan, I don't know anything about Delta but I'm in the same boat as you. My fear of flying is so bad I haven't been on a plane, or to WDW, in 14 years. But I'm doing it, next week!

I can't get a straight answer about whether my airline (United) has wi-fi so I've made plans for other things to do to distract myself. iPod for music which I should be allowed to use at any point in the flight. Rearrange my carryon and purse. Games on my phone that I can use in airplane mode. I'll find snacks in the airport after security and bring them on the plane. I'll have my Disney pins for my son and I to mess around with. Photos of WDW in my phone's camera roll and also a stack of magazines--easy to panic and lose focus reading a novel, but something photo-heavy like a magazine will give me colors and pictures that will distract me more than just words on a page.

I've put many, many hours of work into dealing with this fear since I booked my WDW trip, and I'm nervous but ready. Two things that helped me the most were a forum called Taking Flight, and a website/book called SOAR. Both are aimed towards fearful flyers and they've been invaluable to me. Might be worth your while to visit those sites and come up with strategies that will work for you. Good luck!

I used Delta's wifi last year, and it worked just fine. I too like to be distracted when flying, and I could still kiss whoever decided we didn't have to shut our electronics off when flying!

Delta's inflight Wi-Fi is not available below 10,000 feet. This means it will not be available during your ascent and descent, about the first and last 30 minutes of your flight. You also have not said what type of device you plan to use, as laptops are still not allowed during this same time. A tablet or phone loaded with something like games or movies that can be used without Wi-Fi can be used during these times.
