Delta or American Airlines?

In 2002 our family booked a holiday to Disney and due to many people saying book everything separate "its cheaper" we decided to book our flight with delta..... this was a bad experience, We had a good flight from Gatwick to Atlanta, but Altanta to Orlando was terrible, we had to ask many airport crew about how to find our connecting flight as Delta were not bothered, when boarding a flight from Atlanta to Orlando we were met by rude airline staff who had other things on there minds than helping us out. Our return flight was direct from Orlando to Gatwick and my dad had to sit all the flight holding a cupboard shut as it kept swaying in flight. Again the staff were not worried and were more than happy for my dad to hold the door shut. When we wrote to Delta they never even bothered to reply with an apology.

Our next flight to Disney was with Travel City Direct in 2005- not brilliant but much better than Delta, in 30 days we fly Virgin, now lets see if this will be better. I do hope so.!!!!!

In traveling I've made the elite level on both Delta and AA and between the two AA is the only one that has lost my bags (4 times) in all times they found them and I got them back, once the same night I arrived delivered to my hotel, 1 the next day delivered to my home. and 2 within 2 days delivered to my home. I've never had delta lose anything. My biggest complaint with Delta was having them make a plane change so that I was forced to take a domestic plane on a 9 hour international flight (imagine very cramped seats that don't recline more than 3 inches)

So between the two I would really just say pick the one that has the best price and gets your there at the time that you want to be there. Now, one word of warning, at certain times of the year I would avoid Delta and use AA or avoid AA and use Delta just to avoid delays.

Times to avoid AA are late May and Early June in the summer as those are the prime thunderstorm months for Dallas, and when DFW gets closed it can cause a ripple effect throughout AA since it is there biggest hub.

For Delta you want to see what cities you would connect in and if its winter avoid any that connect in Ohio.

If possible alway avoid flights on either airline that connect in Chicago during the winter months, you never know when Chicago will get hit with a winter storm.
