Because the parade was known for years as "Main Street Electrical Parade". When it left Disneyland park for the first time, it became "Disney's Electrical Parade", because it no longer took place on Main Street. When it made its way to WDW, they were too lazy to change the name back. Because this is the final time the parade will be shown, and it is returning to where it debuted, it is fitting for it to return to the Main Street Electrical Parade name one final time.

I think it's fitting for them to give us the original version of the parade. Did that even have the drum?

Do we have any concrete info on the running dates for this? January through June? Maybe through the end of the summer? I am trying to plan a DL trip just to see it one last time to say goodbye for real. HA, who am I kidding, it'll be back in some form someday...how many times have we been through this. But seriously, any word on specific dates?

Last I heard, Mid Jan to mid June.

So if Soundsational is off until March and MSEP doesn't start until mid-January, what will be running the beginning of Jan? Nothing?

We're coming in for race weekend in Jan (1/12-1/15) and are wondering what will be running then.
Paint the Night is currently running. Depending when it leaves for its refurb it might still be running by early January but I'm no insider.

As long as they bring back the elegant 1977 era track of The Baroque Hoedown and not the Dreamlights track I'll be happy.

I just listened to the new version for the first time. I have to say, it's awful. While the original has nostalgia backing it, the new version sounds super generic, not like something Disney would put out.

If the parade comes back with the new soundtrack, I'll make sure I don't see it.

Still hoping they change the drum float!

I gotta wonder how possible this would be. The Dream Lights version is fine and all - for Tokyo! But only the 1977 version works for our stateside MSEP. Don Dorsey said years ago that part of the reason they changed it was because of a 3/4 measure thrown in the middle of an otherwise 2/4 or 2-beat time signature song. The Dream Lights version fixes that. But I mean c'mon, it was that way for over 30 years! Let's go Disneyland, restore the original electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds! :)

Yeah the new version is very cold, calculated, and impersonal. It lacks humanity. Probably because it's all digitally computerized! No real playback from a human. Dorsey and Wagner slaved for hours on end getting the sounds just right for the '77 version. The new one sounds like it was thrown together as a midi file, hahaha!

The original Tokyo audio is good since it was originally exclusive to Tokyo

They should kept the Tokyo music for Tokyo only

Wow, I have never sat and watched the whole thing before. This really smokes every other electrical parade I've ever seen before. This beats the snot out of Paint The Night. WDW really should get a version of this for its new parade. It's got the charm and whimsical nature of the original MSEP but updated enough for the 21st century. Paint The Night lacks a soul, in my opinion. It relies too much on screens. But this? Hits the nail square on the head, fires on all cylinders.
