Delays

As I sit here at Bush airport in Houston...on my 4th gate change and connection city changed due to a 3 hour delay into Chicago...what are some tips you could offer WDW travelers confronted with lengthy delays? I'm not on my way to WDW :( but I figured this inconvenience would feel better with a Disney spin. Fingers crossed that my bag makes it to Syracuse with me.

First, have a safe trip and may your plane come soon:mad: These delays are absurd!! Secondly, enjoy your family in Syracuse and I hope you make it to Dinosaur BBQ. We will be driving thru in a month.

Lastly, to answer your question, if it is just me and my DH, no problem! Eat, drink, and be merry!! If the kids are with us, whole other story! Basically walk from one end of the airport and back hoping they will run our of energy!!!

Honestly, we're flying to Disney at the end of this month for the first time (we usually drive) and I am worried about this. If our flight is delayed that means cutting into our park time as we only have four days and no park hopper. I scheduled the first flight out in the morning so that we could get to the parks as soon as possible! I'll probably cry if the flight is delayed.

If I were flying and confronted with lengthy delays, I, being the impatient control freak, would try to use this situation as an exercise in "patience and letting go." If we're talking about cancellations, I'd find another way to get my butt to Orlando.

I always figure I may be delayed or bumped. Tat way, when it happens, I'm not too bummed. :)

Unless you're hungry, there isn't much good about it, so just try to stay positive, browse shops, read a magazine. :)

Hope your luggage gets there, too!

I think...unless someone chooses it for a group dinner tomorrow...we'll be staying up on the hill. Hoping to make it to Faegans tonight. It's actually me and college friends so we're going to pretend we're 20 and have a blast. I like the eat and drink plan with the delay.

Gosh, I hope those delays aren't due to the "cutbacks".:( Be safe.

I think it's the weather. Still frustrating.

Yea...it really has me thinking about our air to WDW this fall. Delays happen, but the impact is far more profound on a shorter trip. Wishing you on time travels.

That's kind of what I did...I went to customer service and said that they need to put me on a flight through a different connection city or another airline. Well, I hinted that's what I wanted. It was a huge line so I figured sweetness would go farther. However, I would have been blunt if they said no.

I did find a silver lining as I was losing hope. I was going to ask for travel vouchers for future travels if they couldn't accommodate me. I've had that happen before and it could have covered some WDW travel. At least they found a way. Nervous about my bag but it's out of my hands.

In the back of my head I always think that we are going to be delayed, that way I'm prepared. So far it hasn't happened for us on the way down, only on the return trip which is more bearable. If I was stuck, I would find a decent restaurant and eat a nice long meal.

We were delayed sitting on a plane just five minutes short of five hours on our trip to Disney. It was my 10 year olds first time flying and she was nervous to begin with and this didn't help. Our trip didn't start until Sunday but we had decided to go down a day earlier to get a jump start on our vacation and your DTD. Well our 10:30 arrival didn't happen until 3:30. Thank God I had made two reservations for T-Rex at 4:00 and then 7:00. My daughter wanted to go to the earlier reservation. Kind of hard to do when we were only boarding te DME at 3:30. I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't ruining my real vacation which didn't start until Sunday. I hope you weren't delayed much longer and have a great trip.

So your luggage didn't go to Tuscon?

I went to Key West once but my luggage made a side trip to Texas, I think. That was no fun at all.

I usually dont like to eat a meal when flying. So faced with a long delay, I usually walk into the airport book store, pick up a magazine or two, maybe a mystery that intrigues me, and a cup of coffee. Settle into my seat near the gate, and if I've chosen the right book, the time passes. :)
Story about luggage.... One of my customers got delayed, his luggage, instead of being placed on the new plane, arriving at his destination, ended up being transported to his house instead. He got a call from his neighbor that there were suitcases on his front steps.
