defending Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

I got annoyed at some people online. (mostly Youtube, big surprise there) but I found some clips of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and was seeing all the comments of people saying "They turned Mickey Mouse into a Dora rip-off" or "Mickey's for ALL ages, not for babies" and don't get me started on the anti-CGI comments. I was just shaking my head at these statements because though I admit, I first saw ads for MMCH and thought "What the $%&@ are they doing to our Mickey Mouse?" But I watched it and saw that this wasn't a Dora "rip-off" so much as I personally saw it as a Dora improvement. Because I had seen Dora the Explorer and other shows like it and cannot stand them. I can't enjoy them, I can't watch them (granted, they aren't for my age group) but I can and do enjoy Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I thought the music was fun, the characters could talk to children without talking DOWN to them, and overall, they took this basic concept, and while still mainly appealing to children, can still appeal to other ages. I mean, i'm 23 and I enjoy this, my mother is in her 50s and dances to the Hot Dog song. Which is something I think only Disney and Mickey Mouse could have done. Does anyone else feel the same way I do, or am I alone here?

I agree with you. It is one of the few shows my children like that I enjoy watching as well. I was thrilled when they came out with it, because my kids really did not know the Fab Five characters very well. I know House of Mouse had alot of fans, but it was a bit too fast paced and hyper for my taste......my kids did not like it either. They LOVE MMCH, and they have the toy clubhouse and play with it all the time....they even use it to act out the show when it is on. As a former pre-school, Kinder, and first grade teacher with a major in Early Childhood education and child development, I think it is a great show. And I am very picky about the programs my kids watch.....they do not watch alot of tv. Another one I love and my kids love as well is the Little Einsteins.

My daughter (2yrs 4mons. old) Watches this show everyday! She even picked out a Mickey Mouse Club House bed set for her "big girl bed". I enjoy this show but it could be because of my love for Disney...

Agreed... though I will always love Mickey as a 2D character for some reason, I really adore this show and my son just loves it!
So cute and the closing song...
I will sing it randomly all day if I hear it.
"Hot Dog..." hehe

Yeah, I was a big fan of House of Mouse myself but could see why a child under 5 wouldn't be interested. It seemed to mostly appeal to people my age and older with it's wild humor and countless obscure Disney refrences. Frankly, I think that could've been Disney's own Animaniacs.
Back on topic, i'm so glad i'm not the only one who feels this way with MMCH. It also stands to me as the first time the Disney characters actually looked GOOD in CGI. I wasn't all that impressed with Mickey's twice Upon a Christmas personally.

Both my kids (4 & 2) love MMCH, and I watch it with them daily. It's a cute, fun show that doesn't insult the kids' intelligence. And it's MUCH more tolerable than Dora! :hammer:

I have watched it a few times, and I think it is a great show, the songs are brilliantly addictive (once I was on the Tube and started singing the Hot Dog song) :o but I don't mind I think it's great.

The story lines are great and I have seen kids following them along answering the questions and singing along.

My daughter is just over 2 now, and her favorite shows are Dora, Diego, and MMCH. Then she'll go to our video cabinet, and pull out the old school "starring mickey" dvd and ask us to put it in.

MMCH is not supposed to be a super intelligent show...it's aimed at the pre-school crowd.

My favorite thing about MMCH versus Dora or Diego is that it is all in English. My husband and I took German and French in High School and college, not Spanish. Also the show is just really cute. My DS4 watches it all the time and loves the hot dog song.

If anything is close to Dora, it would be Handy Manny, not Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Even so, Handy Manny is way better than Dora the Explorer in my opinion.

My daughter loves it. I think if your trying to find a comparision, it might be a mix of Dora (using the map) and Blue's Clues

I've seen little clips of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I really don't see any problems with it. I do have a couple issues though.

One, that it's directed towards preschoolers. I just don't think our favorite mouse should be restricted to one age group. Two, that the series is in CGI. It could be just me, but I prefer Mickey and friends in traditional 2D.
