I took some photos with my digital camera on holiday recently, and would like to share them on the web, however, each photo is about 1.3mb each. Is there any way of reducing the file size without majorly reducing the quality?

Secondly,

i took quite a few night time shots, and put the camera on a slow shutter speed. I did not hold the camera still, so the photos have come out blurred (you can see thumbnails of what they are like below). Is there any way of adjusting the picture to remove the blur?

thanks very much!!!
:D :)

That's happened to me a hundred times and I've never learned that I can't hold the camera steady enuf for a night shot. The only night shots that come out decent are those where I can rest the camera on something solid but even the squeezing of the shutter button can move it slightly and cause the image to lose it's sharpness...yet, I continue to try to take night pictures without a tripod and a shutter release cable, smart eh?

Perhaps the experts can tell you how to fix it but I don't think you'll be able to correct the blur at this point.

This was a lucky shot taken at the Beach Club Villas. I rested the camera on the railing of the bridge and slowly released the shutter. It's still not as sharp as I would've liked it.

I'd say that picture came out pretty well.

Now where's happy snapper when you need him? Any tips?

Hey,

Do you have Photoshop? If you dont feel free to send me any pictures you want help on and I'd be happy to fix them. I can try to sharpen the blurred ones. and I can reduce the file size to any smaller demention.

Tramp, if the camera you are using for the nightshots has a self-timer, set the camera on something stable and activate the self-timer. No shutter button movement.

Also, have you considered getting something like this? ---

You may want to check some of your local camera stores to see if they have something like this. I bought one and the strap works really well on railings. This is really great for digital cameras, since digitals are so much lighter that a 35mm SLR. They are fairly lightweight and will fit in medium sized camera bags. If you really enjoy trying to capture night scenes, I highly recommend it (or something like it).

Heading for the great escape.
Sharpening in photoshop will only change the image slightly, so if it s blurred it will stay blurred.

What it means buy sharpening is the effect caused by the pixels. Like several have already said what you have is camera shake, avoided by using

a. a faster shutter, which you cant do in low light
b. a camera support, thers a whole bunch of proper ones or improvise.
c. a cable release, or self timer, cause firing the shutter can cause camera shake.

As stated before..there is NO way to remove blur..its one of those things that are annoying..but are work-aroundable...

Try combining 2 photos and using different layer settings..
