Ok, I'm usually not one of the complainers, but at Studio Central in the latest park update, I didn't see any garland stretching across the buildings on Hollywood Boulevard. I'm not sure when they stopped putting them up but does anyone have any info on this sadly typical cutback?

I'm not sure how to post pictures, but this is what it used to look like.

This is not a cutback. They stopped putting up the garland when Block Party Bash arrived because the Monsters, Inc. float is too tall and cannot fit under the garland.

That is correct. The garlands were removed because the floats for BPB wouldn't fit under them. It was not a cutback. In fact, in their place, they put silver/gold stars on every lampost.

In the distant past, they used to have mini trees on every lamp post, then the trees went to every other lamp post and now they are just on the entrance lamp posts with the rest now sporting the gold stars with silver tails, which are actually very nice at night.

It's derived from the decision to save on costs by utilizing older parade floats not originally designed for the park.

At least DHS is one WDW park that hasn't really "cut back" on holiday offerings or decor and actually still makes up for the losses one way or another. Unlike the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, which have clearly been affected Xmas offering-wise by our economic recession.

I wonder if the countdown to fun parade will have the same limitations.

If I'm not mistaken, the decorations at MGM Studios are actually fuller than what they have been in the past, but I could be wrong.

Maybe they can send some to EPCOT.

It is called Hollywood Studios now -- I think some people still just call it MGM...

They also share their holiday decorations with all their other parks. Disneyland Paris always has used decorations from the other parks -- and last year, the garlands over MainStreet in the MK were from Disneyland Paris the year before....

I'm sure the old garlands from DHS are being put to good use in one of the other parks around the globe, or at a resort or elsewhere in the world of Disney.

What big displays outside the park? The last five or six years, all they have had at DHS is the big CHristmas Tree outside the park, and that was already there a month ago...

It would be nice to see the mini trees reapear on the light post again :)

In other holiday news, last night 11/30/10 the Epcot Christmas Tree was not fully lit. The middle portion was burnt out on one side and the white lights were missing in the middle section. Hopefully this will be corrected quickly, as there were several nights last year in which the tree was not fully lit.
