Hi

looking for a visit around 5-20 december this year,

Can anyone help with the following?

Weather, hot or rainy??
Weather is generally mild. But (there is always a BUT) .. this is when my family generally visits WDW. Have always brought cool weather clothing and summer clothing. The last few years have found short sleeves and shorts are good during the day and have needed warm clothing in the evening. It gets rather cool at night and if the wind blows it feels down-right cold. So -- bring long sleeves and long pants for the evening events. Have rarely had wet weather, but it does rain sometimes.

Parks busy or quiet compared with previous visitis in May or June?
Parks do get busy, especially on the week-ends. If attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party try to get week day tickets, avoid Friday or Saturday if at all possible.....that is when the Orlando area residents tend to flock into the Magic Kingdom for the 'party'. Have found that advance dinner reservations are a good idea (may now be made only 90 days in advance.)
Christmas decorations - will they be up everywhere??
Christmas decorations begin going up right after Thanksgiving Day and when you get there every venue and park will be decorated. If they are still filming the WDW Christmas Parade the Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree will be near Tomorrowland, but once filming is completed it will be moved to the entrance outside the train station, between City Hall and Tony's.
And anything else that coudl make this a super visit?

Definitely get tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

Be sure to see the fireworks at EPCOT, this display is enhanced at the conclusion.
Get tickets to the Christmas Concert which is outside the American Pavilion.
Visit Holywood Studios in the evening to see the Osmond Family Lights.

Take time to visit all the on property hotels (especially the Poly, Grand Flo, Yacht and Beach Clubs, and Boardwalk) to see their decorations and gingerbread houses.

The Christmas Parade at the Animal Kingdom is great for kids (and adults) .

The Animal Kingdom closes very early at the time you will be visiting.

The Christmas atmosphere at Disneyworld is truely magical, its the best place to spend christmas. The decorations are everywhere and christmas carols play throughout the world. You can see the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade with marching toy soldiers, horse-drawn sleighs etc., You can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. You must see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in Disney Hollywood studios or spend an evening at Epcot for the Candlelight Processional. The weather can be a little unpredictable at that time of the year. Some years we spent christmas in t-shirts and shorts and other years in hats, scarfs and gloves. It can be a little like an english summer! We usually bring a mix of clothes so you our covered for all seasons. At the begining of December the crowds aren't too bad but as it get closer to Christmas day it starts to get really busy.

Great time to visit! The parks will be spectacularly decorated as will all the resorts - take time to visit as many as you can.

Don't miss the Osborne Lights at DHS - just wonderful! Get there early to enjoy!:)

Tickets for the Very Merry Christmas Party at the MK go on sale on 5/1 - separate admission is required, but it is lots of fun and often sells out.

Weather can be temperate or chilly or downright COLD (we have experienced both); prepare for both; the evenings are usually chilly, so a jacket is a great idea.

I agree, it's a great time to visit. Compared to June, the crowds will be low, although they'll start to pick up as Christmas breaks start.

The parks are beautiful when they're decorated for Christmas. As everyone has said, don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the Osborne lights.

The neat thing about that time frame is the extras that you won't see other times of the year.:)

We were there Dec 25th - Jan 3 '09. Weather was T-shirts and shorts all day (typical British summer temps) evening was long lightweight pants with a T-shirt. That was until New Years Eve when temperatures dropped dramatically so out came the jumpers and sweatshirts. Not a drop of rain in sight
