December crowds, etc...

This is way crazy, but anyways...I just got back from Disney World a little over a week ago (and boy do I wish I were still there, but anyways..), a few of my friends and myself really want to go to Disney World when it is decorated for Christmas. Our fall semester ends the first week in December, so we were kind of thinking about going the second or third week in December. Has anyone been at this time or knows enough to let me know what the crowds are like, and what the "World" in general is like. Any clue what the weather is like at that time also? I'm from Louisiana, so I'm very used to a warm winter...but anytime it gets below 70 degrees....I break out the long sleeve t-shirts & sweaters! lol Well, thanks ahead of time for any information!

P.S.---since I am posting this right now...I just as soon as this question too....can anyone help me with how to put an avatar under my name on the side?

I've never been to Disney in early December, but I am told it is the optimum time to visit. The tour books all list it as one of the slowest times of year. We are scheduled to go in November this year, and I do know that the average highs and lows that month are excellent.

Have fun. Let us know what you think about it when you get back.

I have been a few times in December. It is my favorite time to visit aside from the weekend after Labor Day. It's not crowded and you don't have to plan to do lunch or dinner around the crowds. It's worth the drive from here. BTW where are you from in LA.?

That sounds awesome...slow crowds!! I'll just have to keep in mind that SpectroMagic will most likely only play on Friday or Saturday...we'll adjust accordingly, though...plenty of time to plan! Debbie---I live near Lafayette....I am a Ragin Cajun through and through! lol I DEFINITELY bleed red! hehe

Hello Belle_kg,

I have been to WDW in early December for the past two years, and found that the only day that was crowded at the World, was on Saturday, as you would expect, but the rest of the week was not crowded.

The Christmas decorations are up already, and special Christmas parades, and events are in full swing. :)

P.S. See "Forum Support", under the heading "How To Add an Image Under Your Name", by wdwmagic, to learn how to do that.

Early December is good, because there are small crowds and there is a lot for Christmas going on. The Osborne lights and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

(i think..) for the new years party... which is the best theme park to go to.. i've heard they stay open late (with the exception of animal)

monorail: mgm is a blast for new years. the best part is seeing the regular fireworks show, followed by the special new years additons. i got to say, the regular fireworks show (i think it's called sorcery in the sky) is so much better than the fireworks at mk. anyway, make sure you realize that new years eve is the busiest day of the year. expect 120 minute waits for both tower and r 'n' r.

early december

Belle,

I have been in the same situation the last two years and was down Dec. 4-11 this year and 14-19 the year before. It is definitely nice - virtually no crowds, pleasant weather. Pack a long shirt or jacket and possibly long pants for nightime outings, though - it can get a tad chilly. Definitely plan to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party if you can - it's a blast.

Cheers

dwldzm9 --- it sounds like an awesome time, but man...if you're from Ohio & you thought it got to be a bit chilly...then I'll probably freeze! lol...thanks for the warning!
