can anyone give me any info about staying at AKL in dec. we would like to stay the 19th-26th.there will be 5 of us. me, husband and 9, 8, and 4year old.we would prefer concierge because we like the ideal of all the help with the ps's. also does anyone know about any military discounts for the disney resorts.any help would be really appreciated!

For military discount, you may have to stay at Shades of Green.
The time you're talking about are THE busiest of the year.
If you want to have five in the room, you will have to get upgrade rooms as regular rooms at AKL (and WL) have a maximum of 4.

I suggest you check in with Pam at Kingdom Konsultants (link on home page here). She can give you info on all the best rates and book for you at the same price you can do yourself. She will also follow up if a better rate (like AP update) comes along...although it is not as likely for those dates.
For a modest fee, she can also do planning for you which can be helpful if you are not very familiar with the parks. Coordinating things like Candelight Procession and dinner, character meals ect.
This time of year, I would strongly suggest you make your major meal choices early and get your reservations at the first chance.

As for AKL concierge..I've never experienced it. I have experienced it at Poly. It was awesome to get into PS that I'm sure get booked in seconds.
Not to be nosy, but why don't you try Pam at Kingdom Konsultants...word is that she is a miracle worker with priority seatings...maybe not quite as good as a concierge at a resort, but very close.
I just would hate to see you spend all that money for concierge, when Pam could help you and you could save money for souveneirs for the little ones.
Anyway, its just a little advice...
By the way...I WILL BE GOING IN DECEMBER TOO...21st to Jan. 1!

Yes there are room discounts with an AP, however they are not guaranteed and there is nothing posted yet for December.
Occasionally there are military discounts (last summer I got a 40% off rate at Coronado Springs) but again those vary and you can't count on having one available when you need it.
If you are determined to stay at AK concierge during the busiest week of the year you need to be prepared to pay full price. Then if a discount does turn up you can always apply that to your room, but if one doesn't come out you are no worse off than your original plan.
If you aren't completely set on staying at AKL I do recommend Shades of Green. Room rates are based on your sponsor's rank and do not vary by season so during Christmas week they are even more of a bargain than the rest of the year.
