Death of Gordon Jump

I know this is not on the scale of John Ritter and Johnny Cash, but Gordon Jump died yesterday. He was on WKRP in Cincinnati and he was the Maytag repairman. But, he was also Maggie Malone's father on Growing Pains. I mention this because, to me, the best episode ever of Growing Pains was when his character died. This was one of the most moving episodes I've ever seen in a sitcom. My wife and I bawled like babies when we first saw it. Very well done and lasting in my memory.

RIP, Gordon.

Oh that is so sad. I had not heard of his passing. Thank you Scott for letting us know (for those that didn't). I loved him in the Magtag commercial also.

I hadn't heard that. That's sad. I liked him in WKRP and Growing Pains and, of course, as the maytag repairman. He'll be missed.

From what I understand, Jump had been ill for some time even though he worked doing the maytag spots for TV. That probably why they introduced the younger "Maytag Repairman" in the last several spots produced over the last year or so.
