The probable biggest movie of 2024 has stopped filming. If the strike continues through October, how will that affect the movie's release date?

They can't go back to reshooting as there is a complete work stoppage for all Hollywood productions no matter the location due to strikes including the SAG/AFTRA strike for the actors.

So its easy to tell when they'll go back to reshooting this movie, ie shortly after the strikes are over.

I thought they were already done with filming. If there was such a delay, there was no way they'd ever release it by May. Not sure what they were thinking.

It could be because of the writers strike… it was mention Ryan Reynolds had to refrain from improvising any lines once the writers strike started even though they were still filming… perhaps they are waiting to see what happens with the strikes before they bring him in again

Not quite - from an article at Collider.

"During the interview, Levy revealed to our Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub that the team was 35 days into production when the strike was announced. According to the filmmaker, this was “exactly halfway through filming,” meaning that there are still 35 extra days of shoot so that principal photography can be finished."

"In what is one of the first major blows to the 2024 theatrical release schedule due to the ongoing actors strike, sources have told us that 20th Century Studios’ Deadpool 3 won’t be making its May 3, 2024, start-of-summer, theatrical release date. Even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, a 2024 re-start on the half-finished Deadpool 3 will not get the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman threequel to a May opening date. There’s just too much to do in regards to re-assembling crew, etc. Note, this is just the beginning for 2024 titles; other studios have yet to play the game of three-card monte with their most notable films which are in similar positions as Deadpool 3.

What happens to the start of the summer now?

There is a long shot per sources that Captain America: Brave New World, which was originally on May 3rd, and then pushed to July 26, actually moves back because it’s in better shape than Deadpool 3, having finished production."
