I heard that the gift shop in Norway has merch from the Northwestern from the show "Deadliest Catch." Any idea if they'll still have that stuff in January or is it just temporary?

I don't see why they woundn't - it sells like hotcakes.

Hotcakes being the fastest moving retail item ever I guess ....

When we were there last week, the capitan from the show was at the Puffin's Roost signing autographs. The promo material indicated that merchandise from the show would be available. I got the feeling that it was just tied in with his visit. It wasn't clear if it was something they were now carrying permanently.

Actually, yesterday, I didn't see anything related to Deadliest Catch.

I also think it's timed with the visits. :)

I have seen Nortwestern merch there when nobody from the show was around.

It was not much - some shirts and coffee mugs

You can always order the stuff from their website.

Being that Disney owns the Discovery channel which airs Deadliest Catch, there is no way the boys in marketing can let a tie-in oppurtunity like that skip by! I'm acutally surprised they haven't renamed the Malestrom the Deadliest Catch as well as replace the now gone Viking ship with a section of the Northwestern!

C'mon, if Disney is still good at anything these days, its marketing!

Been there at times when the crew wasn't there signing autographs, and they did have a very limited selection of the merchandise. I think 1 or 2 shirts, mugs, and stickers. That was about it. The full line of merch is available on their site, http://www.hellyhansennorthwestern.com/ There is much less available now than there was a year or so ago, so they may be cutting down the number of products.

According to wikipedia, Discovery Channel is in fact owned by Discovery Communications which is a publicly traded company. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Communications) So unless they signed a cross promotional agreement, ALA American Idol Experience, I doubt we will see a larger tie in at the parks. As it is the current tie in is due mostly to the fact that Helly Hansen is a Norwegian company. (Despite the fact that the Northwestern crew seems to have signed a contract with the North American distributor, and not Helly Hansen itself)

They did last year.. I ran the 1/2 marathon and went to Epcot for the day. Bought a Northwestern Hat signed by Sig.

Oh man - we would freak if we met Sig at Norway (or anywhere!).
Our family are Dealiest Catch FREAKS!
We all have various Dealiest Catch shirts.

BTW, at the Discovery Channel Store (.com), you can make a custom T-shirt. You can choose the type of shirt (unisex, women's, child's, infant, etc.), style (T, baseball T, tank-top, etc.), color, graphic, etc.

It's awesome!

I was there last week, they had some things but nothing major. And it was the week that they were there so I don't know how long it was to be around.

When we were there last week when the crew of the Northwestern were there, the store was FILLED with so much Deadliest Catch and Northwestern items! When we went back later that week once the crew was gone, I couldn't find anything. =(

And that wasn't even half of what they have had on their past visits. We always get the coffee mugs and have the guys sign it, but this time they didn't even have those...we had to resort to a $5.00 picture that they autographed.

I wonder why. I would have loved to have gotten a mug. I might actually put that on my Christmas list this year.
