DDP-What beverages with counter service?

Sorry if this has been discussed before - I searched through the forum and looked at the dining threads and was unable to come up with an answer. On your counter service at the resorts (or anywhere else for that matter) can you get a bottled drink instead of fountain included with your meal and not have it count as a snack? The reason I'm asking is that we will be buying refillable mugs (souvenirs, more than actually using them-at least for the first half) when we are at POP Century but also will be using a few of our counter service credits there. We are on the DDP for the first 5 days and then the next 5 days will be without. My thought is to get bottled beverages (water or pop) to keep for the last part of our stay. Does anyone know if you can do this - or does it have to be a fountain drink or milk? Any input? THANKS!!!!!

19 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: If I had a tail - it'd be waggin'

Yes, you can get a bottled drink with your counter service meal and not have it count as a snack. I know that they have in addition to bottled soda and water, Nesquick chocolate and strawberry milk and I think powerade.

I think I'm reading this right, and if so, yes, at Pop Century in the food court, if you purchase a lunch or dinner for your counter service, you can get a bottled soda/water/juice/poweraid. In the parks, at the counter service locations, usually the only bottled beverage they have is water and sometimes juice, so you'd have to either get the water or a fountain drink. Unfortunatley, this whole dining plan thing revolves around what your server feels like telling you that day. We've had people who told us it was "fountain drink only", and others who didn't say anything when I got a poweraid with my meal. For the most part, we were able to get bottled drinks though. Have fun~

At some counter service in the parks, you may not find much of a selection of bottled drinks. But you can get a (very) large soda under the dining plan which is usually large enough for two people. So you could try to get a bottle of water, if available, as the beverage for the second meal, to drink later.

I knoe for the fact that Pop does have bottle soda and water. But I think that it is around $2 for a bottle. That is a lot if you think about it. My suggestion is that you use those Mugs and then if you are coming back to the same resort on another trip you could bring it back. I know that this is wrong and that the mugs say that you can only use the mugs for the trip that you buy it on, but the thing is that as long as it looks like the mugs that are on the shelves then they won't know the differnce. That is if they don't change the look of the Mugs.

THANKS GUYS!!! I knew someone would have experienced this. I'm going to just go ahead and get the bottled beverages with our counter services while at the resort and save them for the second half of our trip.

Really, it used to be the small pop w/the DDP meal. When did that change. I know they also updated the small drink about a year ago from the crappy 16 oz. to the 22 oz. That was great. We always used to throw out the additional 30 cents for the large and get double. Now the small isn't such a rip.

Sometimes they gave me a large drink without even asking. And whenever I asked for one, I got it. This was just 2 weeks ago.
