DDP snack rules

Hello all,
I remember a few years back there were some guidelines about what was considered a DDP snack.
It generally had to be a single serving with a dollar value under $4.00 (It might have been under 5). I noticed that the Frozen cupcakes are $5.50 and are still included. Does anyone know if they have increased that dollar amount? Is there a way to predict what is included or do I have to look for the symbol every time. I always seem to find pics of yummy things online, but then I don't know if its included or if I have to budget extra (I hate to carry more cash than necessary and I don't link my credit card to my magic band).
Also, if anyone would like to post pics of yummy snacks that are included, I can start compiling next year's list :inlove:.
Thanks

The only thing all counter service and food carts are required to consider snacks are the ubiquitous items listed in the DDP brochure (bottled soda and water, popcorn, ice cream treat, cup or soda or coffee, etc.)

Apart from that the $4-$5 is still a guideline, but each individual location can decide what additional items they want to consider a Snack credit.

For example, at both Flame Tree BBQ and Peco Bill's you can get a basket of french fries ($2.99) as a Snack item, but for a basket of onion rings Peco Bill's ($3.79) offers it as a Snack, Flame Tree ($3.99) doesn't.

Thanks. That's good to know. I guess it wont kill me to carry around a little extra cash just in case.

We got regular funnel cake in MK as a snack but its not allowed in Epcot. If you are unsure ask first. There are some little quirks like the fc and onion rings that can be crazy.

When we went a few months back, I asked if every snack and every part of our meal qualified for the DDP at each meal. After a few days, things didn't add up right. Turns out, we weren't being charged properly. I honestly don't think some of the employees knew what qualified for meals and snacks. They corrected things for us.

Many days I spoke with the manager at our hotel quick service and they often weren't sure what qualified.

I found it odd that they had different size drinks (example orange juice and milk--deluxe hotel) based on whether you had the adult or kid meal. On our last day, one employee said we can always choose the large drink even for a kids meal. (???). A few years ago, this wasn't the case when we stayed at a value hotel.

Ice cream cones in France (Epcot) and Ghiradelli (DTD) count, and they are wonderful. I can't even think of what else we used our snacks on, haha, my brain completely shut off on this last trip.

I have found that with drinks too, both in terms of sizes and exclusions. Sometimes certain drinks are included at one location, don't count at all at another location and at a third they count as a dessert.

I will definitely have to look into that next time :hungry:. Ghirardelli isn't even listed as a DDP location.

I am really looking forward to "shutting off my brain" for a week.

The menus indicate what is excepted for the DDP as you can clearly see in the pic. The DP mark is to the left of the price on the excepted items. It should not be difficult to make you choices.

As for the CM's not knowing what items? This does not make sense. The registers are programmed for what is acceptable with the DDP. This is not something a CM can make random decisions on a whim. As a customer you need to tell them if you want a snack credit used or not. If you do not communicate this to the CM they may charge your room charge account (if setup) the cost of your snack.

Basically, just look around for the mini purple/white checkerboard box next to items. That indicates it can be used as a snack. Personally, I prefer to use my snack credits for a coke or root beer float. Everything else just seems like a waste (i.e. bottled water, popcorn, ice cream bar).

There is no dollar limit that I can ascertain. If you work it, you can get lots and lots of high dollar snacks. Google DDP snacks and you will find lists of what is currently available as dining plan snacks in all the areas. My favorite; DOLE WHIP FLOAT in Adventureland- wow is it good. You can also aggregate them to make up a meal at many places- an eggroll, steamed rice, mixed veggies. All snacks, but added together make a decent meal and allow you to use those table service credits for two-fers like the luau.
