HI everyone in January 2013 I'm doing a trip with my daughter(just her n I) she'll be 10 by then but she eats less than some 5 yr olds, but enjoys the more adult foods. My question is are there adult menu items that come in small portions???? alot of the things I have ordered on the DDP have even been too much for me to finish.I appreciate any suggestions thanks :)

I'm not sure I can offer you any good advice, just my 2 cents. My DD is 14 and still orders off the kid's menu because she's such a picky eater AND she eats less than most 5 year olds. We don't do the DDP. Tables in Wonderland is a better fit for us.
I would say that unless you have to purchase the DDP for everyone in your party, maybe you and your DD could share meals. I have no idea how the DDP works, so maybe that is frowned upon?

I believe that if you are on the DDP and your DD is considered a child by WDW, she would need to use a children's menu anywhere one is available.
3-9 yr olds have to order off the kids menu ,I'm just not sure if a 10 yr old can.If the dining plan is free at the time then I'm not sure what i would do however if theres a different discount at the time we go then I think i'd pay out of pocket n split.I am just scoping out my options incase the only discount offered is the DDP.

It will depend on the restaurant. Most of the Disney owned restaurants will not bat an eye at an older child or even an adult ordering from the kids menus. They will often allow them to order an adult portion of a kids menu item at a slightly increased price. The non-Disney owned restaurants can be another matter. La Hacienda would not even entertain the idea of my 11 year old daughter ordering from the kids menu even at an increased price and I have heard similar stories from other 3rd party restaurants in WDW.

However, this does not really sound like your problem. Due to her age, your daughter will be on the adult dining plan and it sounds like she wants to order from the adult menu so you are good there. It is going to be up to the restaurant if they want to put less on here plate but the price will be the same regardless. She will also be getting a desert on the DDP. Because of this I would not pay for the dining plan. If it is free I would take it, but you will probably end up better in the end paying out of pocket vs. paying for the DDP.

Another option would be to order what she can eat and pay for her meal out-of-pocket, she could try to order from the kids' menu or order half-orders of adult fare. Then use her DDP credits to have Signature meals instead of single-credit meals for a few of your dinners. There is no obligation for her to use her credits, they are "pooled" amongst all the adults in your party.

If the dining plan is free, you have nothing to lose. All Disney restaurants seem happy to split meals between 2, apart from buffets of course. The more pricey establishments seem to give smaller portions anyway, and they will pack up your desserts to take away. I think you would be fine. If I were you I wouldn't consider paying for a dining plan, but if it's the only discount offered you can make it work for you.
