DCL Transportation

My husband, daughter and I will be staying at POFQ the night before our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy this fall. I've read that some people choose to go to the airport and then take that bus to port. Can anyone explain this better?

What is the cost and how do we pay? Do we need to schedule this ourselves and how? Is it worth the extra transport? I want to make it easy on us as this is our first cruise.

Thanks in advance!

We booked the transport on email with Disney Cruise Line--can`t remember the cost though. We were staying at the Boardwalk--it was all so relaxing ---bags picked up from your hotel room --next time you saw them they were in your cabin.
The only downside I would say, is that if you drove to the port, you would get on the ship earlier--don`t know what time though, no doubt someone else can tell you.
After the cruise, we picked up a car hire at the docks, so I can`t tell you what it was like going back to WDW.

Some people decide to go back to the airport to catch the Disney transfers there. The main benefit of the transfers from the airport is how early they get to the port. The first transfers from MCO are usually the first people in the terminal. Plus you can check in for the cruise at the airport and you are given an early boarding number.

The transfers from the airport to the port, or from WDW to the port are both $70 per person, round trip.

It's really up to you if you want the additional hassle of getting back to the airport. If you don't care about getting there early, then I would say it's not worth it.

So we would keep our bags but how would we get to the airport? Where would we go when we get to the airport?

Looks like it all depends how early you want to get on board. We quite liked the leisurely morning at the Boardwalk before the coach trip. No hurry!!

You would keep your bags with you, although Disney will transfer up to 6 bags from the resorts for $25, and take DME or a car service to the airport.

There is some conflicting information on taking DME back without a flight scheduled. CM's at the resort and on the phone will tell you that you have to have flight information. Magical Express directly will (usually) tell you that you do not have to have flight information, you are entitled to a round trip transfer. So just as a caveat, your mileage may vary there.

At there airport, there is a check in for the cruise near DME. Just ask.

I was wondering the SAME thing!

We're staying at Pop Century 2 days before, and 2 days after, our cruise. I called Disney Cruise and we're getting ground transfers:

Airport to Pop (DME)
Pop to Port (DCL)
Port to Pop (DCL)
Pop to Airport (DME)

I'm just going to be confused when I get all of our luggage tags!!
