DCL Revises Alcohol Policy

I may be confused so please correct me if I'm wrong, but the policy is for guests 21 and over. Does that mean that each 21 and over guest can bring in a 6 pack each or 2 bottles of wine each? If that is true, than my family of three can have 18 beers or six bottles of wine. Am I reading that correctly?
You are.

We are heading out on another cruise in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any luck sneaking any extra liquor on board?

I don't know if this was just a European thing but on a Mediterranean cruise last month our bag was scanned but never checked for the contents of the bottles we were bringing on board.

I'm sure I'm going to get a few teetotalers flame me up for this, but I just don't care...

I brought just under a half gallon (one of those big 59 ounce bottles) of spiced rum onto my last cruise. I spread it out over various containers throughout my checked baggage. The containers were the kinds of booze-smuggle contains you get on amazon. Some shampoo/conditioner other things like sunscreen containers. etc. Ironically, I never ended up using any more than 8-10oz of it and stuck with wine, beer and some mixed drinks I bought on the ship. I think I had good intentions of being completely blotto drunk for the entire cruise, but never found myself in the mood to 'go for it' because I was constantly full from all of the food ...

...when I got home, I poured practically all of it back into the 59oz bottle I bought prior to leaving for the cruise. Good thing I saved the bottle!

All that being said - your best bet is to diversify. Spread it out in your bags and hedge your loss. If you bring it on in one big container and they find it, you're outta luck. But if you put it in multiple containers, there's a real good chance you'll get at least a few of them into your room.

Good luck!

Depends on how creative you are with that big container...

I'm spending 2-15k on a cruise.. I think I can splurge and afford the drinks from the bar :)

LOL...what is horrible is that we spend about $100 a day on drinks (which sounds like a lot but only about 4-5 drinks per day for 2 people). But we normally like having a drink after the bars close, so we won't need a ton. So the bars and the bartenders are still getting paid. This isn't about saving money and more about having some convenience. Last cruise we used a 750ml bottle of rum after hours.

Thanks! I've gotten some private messages as well with some great ideas. We aren't taking a lot, but was hoping to get at least a liter on board for a night cap every night.

I agree, but sometimes, I like sitting on my verandah with a nightcap and I don't want to leave the room to get one. But I found the two bottles of wine per person, per port was more than enough to accomplish that.

I agree...I wish they would allow up to 1 750ml bottle for liquor as well and that would be perfect.

I do, too. Honestly, it's not about saving money; we always buy a wine package with dinner, go to various mixology/tasting classes and buy drinks whenever we like it. For me, it's about sitting out on my verandah in my PJs and enjoying a quiet drink.

Thats really it. If I am at the bar, I'll buy a drink at the bar. If I am in my room, and I want a drink, I don't want to have to go to the bar.

That is the same reason we keep drinks in the room while at WDW, or actually at any hotel. Somtimes you just want to sit on your balcony and have a drink, and not have to get dressed to walk down to the bar.

Someone in our group works at a beverage company (not saying the name). We are taking water 6 packs and replacing the water with Vodka. Then resealing the plastic shrink wrap around the pack. Pretty sure that will work.
