No, the captain moves pretty carefully. There isn't much ice until they get near the glacier, and at that point the ship just crawls along. They also use the various thrusters to shoot water and push bigger chunks out of the way. Tracey Arm Fjord and the Sawyer Glacier was our most amazing day on the Alaska ship. I've never seen scenery like that. On many hectic days my brain takes a vacation to that Tracy Arm Fjord day, with spectacular vistas, mind-boggling naval engineering, and a warm coffee with something wonderful mixed in. Yeah, I wish I was there right now.
