Have you noticed that you never (at least I haven't) see smoke coming from the Disney ships but that it is quite common on ships of other cruise lines? I was just looking at the Paradise Island and Nassau port web cams and three RC ships were each putting out a cloud of smoke. Three others from other cruise lines were in port were not putting out much today but I have seen them at other times with a lot of smoke. I wonder if Disney just does a better job filtering the emissions or if some of the others just use cheaper dirtier fuel. If you watch the Port Canaveral web cam you will see the same thing when multiple ships are docked. Even the Disney ships that are not LNG fueled are clean.

Mickey Mouse must have invented some type of capture system. :)

Depending on the age of the ship, they have different emissions requirements.

Also, depending on how the ship is powered, some ships switch to a different engine when in port to provide hotel power.

A gas turbine is great if you are using it to provide both propulsion energy from rotational loadings and hotel power from the waste heat, but to run it when in port just for hotel power is a huge waste. That is when you use a secondary generator for that power.

As an aside, those in-port engines are no fun to have a stateroom under BTW.
