An 1800s version of a billboard. When trees were cleared to build the town of Skagway, the rock face was exposed. Local business owners took advantage of the space by painting advertisements for their shops in town.

My first thought was “wow! That’s so cool!” Then I started to think about why they would need something so heavy duty. Alaskan snow is no joke!
