Oh my goodness only 8 days away (5 working days) for the big trip to WDW. I seriously cannot wait and with all the planning (which was all last month) mostly from this site I just wanted to post our day-to-day dining and here peoples reaction. I WANT TO HEAR THE BAD, NOT ONLY THE GOOD

Wednesday:
Fly from Philly to Orlando (late - only eating will do is in the airport)

Thursday:
Breakfast: Pepper Market @ Coronado Springs
Dinner: L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante

Friday:
Breakfast: Boma - Flavors of Africa
Dinner: California Grill

Saturday:
Breakfast: ??
Dinner: Tchoup Chop at Universal Orlando's Royal Pacific Resort

Sunday:
Breakfast: ??
Dinner: Sci-Fi Restaurant

Monday:
Breakfast: ??
Dinner: Beaches & Cream

Tuesday:
Breakfast: Kona Cafe
Dinner: some place where we are shopping

I seriously can not thank you all for how much money you saved me. With purchasing an annual pass to lower our room rate, so that we can come back later and use the annual pass - we have saved over $300.00 on this trip so far - THANK YOU.

So please let me know what you think of the above and please give me your honest opinions.

Take care!

Alfredo's and California Grill are both EXCELLENT. Sorry but I don't have anything bad to say about them. Sci-Fi has some good food (I liked my dinner, but my friend didn't like her's) and the concept is nice, but after the third time through the loop of bad horror movie previews, it gets a bit old. Plus, just a weird thing for me is if I'm eating somewhere that has a cement floor, I expect a cheaper restaurant.

I have heard good things (but no first hand experience) with breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary Resort. This would be a great choice for MK day--you can hop on the monorail and be there in a jiffy.

It's your usual eggs/bacon stuff, except for the Sticky Mickey, which has me droolin' right now.

Here's the thread that describes it

And here's the menu for breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse

Hey JOSH!

I'll toss in some BAD.... :goodnevil

Your schedule seems a bit...umm....."ambitious"!!!

Do you really want to commit yourself to dining in a specific place each day???

Not only can it be costly to eat a sit-down dinner each night in all those Resort restaurants, but you will most likely find yourself not ready to eat a full meal every night. Factors like fatigue and Florida heat can play a big role in whether you want to eat or not.

We make specific plans for maybe 2-3 days out of our week. The other nights we are usually glad we can just eat turkey legs, chicken fingers, or ice cream at the parks. If we are still hungry, we have been very lucky walking up to places and getting in - wherever we happen to be.

While I know it works for many, I guess we just never liked having such a rigid eating schedule while we are on vacation to relax. I certainly wouldn;t let it dictate where I had to go each night.

Just something to think about. :)

Other than that, you have made some good selections. If you are REALLY up for eating a big breakfast every day, be sure to include the character breakfast at Chef Mickeys. OR.....
Do what we do and get those huge rice crispy treats at the park each day! :slurp:

Have fun!

I have to agree with Brer Stitch. I don't know how large a group you'll be traveling with, but those sit-down meals eat up a LOT of money - and time, too! If you and your family really enjoy sit-down dinners, I'd relax your breakfast schedule a bit - you might not want to have a big meal at that hour every day. We always found that the days we ate lighter breakfasts were the days we had the most fun in the parks. Plodding around in the heat after a killer meal is work!

Whatever you decide, have a great time! :)

For the most part, I'd agree with you, but there are a couple times where we've planned all our meals ahead of time. Depending on if I have the money to burn at those places, I like having it laid out for one reason... no decisions to make when I get there. There have been several times where my wife and I just can't decide where to eat. We end up travelling all over WDW before we pick a place.

The low point for us was when we started in Epcot, went around the entire WS, then to the MK, then to Poly and finally ended up at GF. After about two hours we ended up at the snack shop where we had strawberries and beer.

Now the big joke is how long and how far we have to go to find a place to eat. Darn Disney for making so many good restaurants.

good for you

Whenever we go, we always plan our meals. WDW has such great restaurants that we look forward to our meals almost as much as visiting the parks. You're right in stating that you can always cancel your PS, we've done that before because once you get to WDW things have a way of changing. Still it's nice to make those PS arrangements ahead of time. In fact, I believe my cousin has already started booking for our trip in September. If you haven't already booked the California Grill do so quickly as the good times book fast.

As far as your dining choices no complaints, but if money is no object for dinners and you want to eat nice, the Flying Fish Cafe at the Boardwalk is one of my favorites. Great food and service. We have always enjoyed Chefs de France in WS as well.

At MGM all 4 table service restaurants are good. For theming, Sci-fi and Prime Time are tops. For a little more of a formal dinner, Brown Derby is awesome. Their Cobb Salad is the best.

Good luck in your continued planning. Our group LOVES to eat, so when I saw your post I just had to respond. Have a great time, I am soooo jealous.

Definitely make your PS reservations

If at all possible, definitely make those PS reservations. With your group of 2 it shouldn't be hard to get in, but with our group of 12 I am already making our reservations for this September and am having to adjust some times due to unavailability in the restaurants. Even with a party of 3 or 4, we always make reservations - just like you said, we can always cancel or adjust upon arrival - but making those reservations enables you to get in and out faster during your mealtimes.

If you just wing it when you get there, if you try to eat at a full service restaurant, you may find yourself waiting a long time more often than not, and them maybe resorting to fast food if time is of the essence. However, if food isn't so much a factor in your trip, then maybe just finding somewhere fast to eat won't be a problem.

We, on the other hand, love our sit down meals and our chance to relax and enjoy the food so we find it a necessity to make those reservations. We have been there often enough as well to determine when ideal eating times would be.

Here's where we're eating (@ of this writing):
Beaches & Cream
Tusker House
Brown Derby
California Grill
Fulton's Crab House
Flying Fish Cafe
Citricos or Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki
Chefs de France

Yum yum yum.

Enjoy your relaxing meals!
