Day Pack Recommendations

Our previous trips we've had a stroller so a backpack or anything really wasn't needed. We just a normal and threw stuff int he bottom of the stroller. We have a camera back pack, but it holds the camera and we don't like bringing it everywhere. Been looking at just day packs, of the hiking variety, to take next time. Are you allowed to bring one in that has a full bladder like a camelback? We are going in winter so maybe have enough space to hold a couple extra shirts or lightweight jackets would be good.

I agree with rt06. Any place that sells fountain sodas will give you ice water for free and it has no foul taste or smell. I have an ice issue (it's my addiction lol) and I LOVE the ice at Casey's...just perfect. I also think the first trip without the stroller you take way more than you need in the backpack and it becomes cumbersome not just to carry but taking on rides etc.,

Thanks for the tips on the bladder. I didn't know it was free. We usually get the mugs and carry those around. Have a business trip next week and just taking a tablet so don't need my computer bag. Went and got a backpack for my carryon that I could use for other things like disney as well. Ended up with a north face recon daypack. Sale price was $40. Nice backpack. Think it will be comfortable for long use.

You'll have to wait on line like everyone else, just ask the cashier for water.

my recommendation is to go with something smaller and not to over pack for the parks. Nothing is worse than being hot, tired and having to carry a bag that weighs a ton of things that you didn't even use (it gets heavier as the day goes on trust me...). I used to carry a bag, now i just carry a little purse. Camera, phone, wallet, a little bottle of sun screen and a compact folding hairbrush...one of those little round ones with the mirror. I know with kids its a little different, but just my two cents.

The strollers have always worked well for us but we will be switching to back packs also this trip as the kids have outgrown the strollers. Our recommendation is taking small frozen bottled waters in a small soft sided cooler or back pack and refilling them at fountains (if needed) and recycling them when they're done.

Yes we try to be light packers. But have a special needs son and will be traveling with extended family that includes a child under 3 so we could try to put things in a bag and switch off carrying as needed. Looking more likely that we'll have a stroller this time too. Oh well, still got a cool pack for a good price.
