For those that are going or went to MNSSHP in the past, what do you usually do in the day? Go to a park in the morning? Deciding on if I should do a park or relax/enjoy the resort/pool time before going to MK at 4pm. Going with 3 young kids.

Trying to see what others do.

Thanks!!

We've done both -

- before Pandora/Avatar existed, we may go to AK for the morning, head back to our resort, and then get ready and go to MK to arrive around 4pm or just after (now I may do something similar with HS)

- we have also spent the morning at our resort swimming etc

We went to MK that day and just treated it like a super long day. It was fun because we stayed in the spirit the whole time. However, our costumes were very comfy so I imagine if yours is more involved, this may not work without prepping at the resort or bringing a change of clothes which is kind of a pain.

I can also see benefit in spending a relaxing morning at a resort or hopping around outside the park, so you don't have to pay for admission and can ensure you have enough energy to make the night worthwhile.

Agree. It makes for a good way to break up what can be a long day. We went to another park in the morning and back to the room for naps and to get refreshed for the party that night.

Subject to you or your groups stamina.

Having done it twice now, I think even 4pm is early, lol. Pooped by the end, if we make it...

A long day at MK. We get there at rope drop and stay until the party is almost over. We don't go dressed in our costumes though. We take those and keep them in a backpack in a locker. We go get them right before our dinner reservations we make for around 6:45pm. We take the costumes to the restaurant and change in the restrooms there. Easy. :D We used to make reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern but on our last trip Be Our Guest was there so we chose that for the reservation. It was perfect!

Depends on where you are staying and the age of your kids. We've done both ways but I would only suggest you go to the parks then go back to the hotel before the party under certain circumstances. If you are staying in a monorail resort it is easy to do... If you are staying further away then you need to factor in the age of your kids. If they are really young then you can do it but I suggest you plan on leaving the park around noon because it will take time to get back to the hotel anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes... you need to eat... then rest a bit then start trying to get the kids ready if they are wearing any costumes... But you should be back by 4:30 or 5:00 if your hotel isn't too far away.... Which of course brings up another point... You are going to be using the ticket for a very short time so do you have a really long multi-day ticket that isn't costing too much per day? If so then again it can make sense to do a quick park stop in the morning... But if you are on say a 5 day ticket then the price of that morning stop is pretty high. You didn't give enough detail for people to make real comment so those are really just a few things to consider. Frankly the last couple of times we did the Halloween party we skipped the park until 4:00 and just slept in because we had already been a bit worn out from prior days staying till the parks closed.

Last year when we went we had a slow morning that included a late character breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Thought it worked out well having a big meal that would tide us over for the day, but also would not waste "good park time" at a long breakfast.

Staying at AoA with kids ages 7, 5 and 22 months. I'm leaning towards resort/pool time and maybe going to Disney Springs before going to MK at 4pm. Im not sure if going to a park first will tire them out.

This is a good idea. They have a 1:40pm ADR at Chef Mickey's for brunch. Is this time good?

I can never get enough so I go to MK early, store my costume in a rented locker and stay late through the event. But with the age of your kids it does make for a long day so saving MK for later might give them more lasting power. Be sure to get there prior to check in time because it does get crowded early and the line for the wristbands get long. And scope out the event map to plan out your M&Gs cause those lines get considerably long fast. The kids can collect a lot of candy so you might want to have a backpack with you to hold their loot to make it easier on the rides.

I typically spend the day strolling through Animal Kingdom or Epcot and enjoying the less chaotic aspects of that park. Since you have younger kids, you may want to have a relaxing day away from the parks so you won't be so tired during the party. You could spend half of your day at your resort's pool and maybe the other half exploring the resorts on the monorail before the party.

We planned it as our first day at Disney. We did not pay for a park admission that day. We spend the morning getting to Disney so there were just a few hours between arrival and entering the park at 4pm with the party ticket. Kind of offset the cost of the party tickets.

We like to use the MNSSHP day to sleep in and relax at the resort. We dress in costume for the party and we'll start getting ready to be at the bus stop by 3pm so we can get in line for the wristbands to enter the park at 4pm. Sleeping in late and relaxing allows us to stay at the party until closing. That way we don't feel like we're wasting a park ticket.

This year we're having a resort day before the party. I've done MVMCP where we were there for rope drop and stayed through to the end of the party. Last year we were getting off a cruise the day of MNSSHP and we checked into our resort and swam before we left for the party.

I think I am going to do this. Thank you!
