Haven't seen the specifics posted here on Lucky's appearance, but I came across this while trying to figure out the new ticket pricing.

So Lucky will be with us from May to July (hopefully three complete months)
Kick off the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" by going 65 million years into the past for a glimpse of the future. From May to July, 2005, you can meet Lucky, the first ever free-moving Audio-Animatronics® figure, as he makes his Walt Disney World® Resort debut at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. This is one friendly, life-like dinosaur who enjoys interacting with Guests up close.

Category: Meet & Greet the Characters
Land: DinoLand U.S.A.

TIPS & FUN FACTSLucky the Dinosaur made his Theme Park debut at Disney's California Adventure.

Disney Imagineers have been dreaming of the concept of a free-walking Audio-Animatronics® figure since Walt Disney explored the idea a half-century ago.

Lucky is the coolest dino ever, my friend went to Disneyland and videotaped him. It looked so awesome on how he moved. I cant wait to see Lucky in person.

He'll only be there until July?? whats going on with him after that? Why isnt he staying longer for the whole celebration or permanently? I dont wanna miss him when I go later in the year!

They could be worried about him being in service for too many consecutive days. He did break down a few times when he was at DCA. They might be seeing how he handles this set, then perhaps will schedule another set sometime in the future.

Darn, I thought Luckt was going to become a sort of semi-permanent walk-around character for Dinoland, not just a few month limited showing. Oh well, Lucky will still be cool to see in person while he's here.

I am so bummed. I wanted to see Lucky. I think it's just the coolest critter. I was hoping when I saw he was coming to AK that we could see him in December. Maybe one day...... Maggie

Darn it. I thought he would be there through the whole 50th celebration. It looks like I won't get to see him, since I most likely won't be going to WDW until November 2005. And I really wanted to see him to.

I can't wait to see him. I'm curious to see how he is presented, and how the show will progress.

When Lucky was at Disneyland last year every time I saw him the "show" was sort of a slowly moving meet n' greet sort of thing. Lucky's handler, a medeival magician sort of a guy, seemed to be taking Lucky for a walk and the entire plot consisted of "Look Lucky, there's some more friends over there! Let's go say hi!".

It was simple, but it worked. No one cared about the plot anyway, they were all just amazed and astonished to see this big dinosaur walking around in a theme park. It really is very impressive to watch!

I suspect that if LUCKY goes over well and doesn't have too many mechanical problems they will probably extend his stay, but don't want to commit to it now and get hopes up if he doesn't. (god know what this humidity will do to the poor dino :D )

But I wonder what the purpose of creating LUCKY was in the first place. Surely they just didn't think to spend $$$ so they could have a walk around AA (or a fleet of them). Surely they have to been using this as a test for something bigger (or I sure hope so). :veryconfu

Bingo.
Lucky is basically a "prototype" for bigger and better things...very cool though.

Replacing CM's, Artists and Imagineers? :lookaroun *sorry, I couldn't help myself*

Expanded use would be good, but I think for the forseeable future size will be the key restriction. Lucky needs the "help" of his large cart to get around, so any similar creation would need similar size proportion, or to be restricted to a limited space using an umbilicus. As always, Lee provides some tantilizing teasers :o :zipit:
