Press Release:
The World Wildlife Fund is once again looking to engage WWE in court battles, still stemming over the wrestling promotion's use of the WWF initials.
The lawsuit claims that even though World Wrestling Federation switched to WWE after a court order, there is still American (and world) confusion of the issue. World Wildlife Fund argues that it has to attach the full name of its organization to its initials just to clarify its meaning.
World Wildlife Fund now seeks damages for WWE's repeated use of the 'WWF' initials and looks for the court to assess the potential revenue had WWE licensed the initials from WWF, instead of illegally using them.
------------------------
Yeeeesh! Get over it already. The wrestling promotion already gave into them years ago and changed their name. It's been WWE for years now. Everyone knows it by WWE now. So some people think they're a wrestling company cause they use the initials WWF? There's nothing the WWE can do about that now. WWE did what they wanted. In fact, anytime they show clips from past wrestling years, all references to WWF are blurred out. Maybe the World Wildlife Fund should just use their full name instead of trying to be witty and using those initials. Face it, no one is going to ever going to associate WWF with you no matter what you do to the WWE.
