Dark Times?

I like Nemo but miss Tarzan because it was a live rock show. I think Disney needs more like that - live rock n roll!

I LOVED that show! But I always HATED going to it. :ROFLOL:

it's because it was not in-doors (which they could've done), so i'm sitting in the florida heat. Also, the seats near the fans get taken up really quickly

Finding Nemo: the musical could have replaced the flights of wonder, but i like that show just as much as i liked tarzans rocks!

I liked Pocahontas, I didn't think it was lame at all.

I never saw it personally but judging from both the reviews/comments/surveys conducted by the Unofficial Guide and the lack of "mourning" here over its loss I assume it wasn't hugely popular.

But something should go into that space.

So next time you complain that things like Sounds Dangerous are sitting unused when Disney could add something there or that things are not taken care of as they used to, just remember that you are forget the little things. The money that is spent on supplies, behind the scenes work, little updates, labor, and goes to other aspects of the company and the resort.

So you assume everyone who complains about a lack of attractions doesn't comprehend other operation expenses? Building, renewing and maintenance are all part of running a theme park and information shows that more than anything else new attraction offerings drive increases in attendance. AK saw an 8.6% increase in attendance over the previous year when EE opened for example.

When a park goes more than 3 years without any new ride show or attraction* I have every right as a consumer to question whether or not my time is worth revisiting that place. I have skipped AK on my last 2 trips because of Disney's failure to offer anything new in that park and it this point it could be years before anything substantial is added at this point since construction hasn't even started on anything. A new show could be thrown together relatively fast, but will it be enough to justify an increase operating hours for example to give guests an additional opportunity to spend on food and merch?

The economy excuse is so poor I won't even bother with such nonsense and clearly neither is Disney, or Universal for that matter.

*February 2007 was the "official" opening of the Finding Nemo Musical. It began previews in November 2006.

A bit exaggerated. I just can't see how building more of a ride people enjoy is a bad thing? They are trying to shorten the wait times and provide the experience for guests that only get to attend one park. It also helps everyone by providing more mild experiences for families easing the load on other attractions.

And WDW has done this with other more sophisticated attractions. Every park now has a 3-D immersive movie experience. Those replications ensure that even single day visitors get that experience. Turtle Talk and MILF are based on the same technology and much the same type of attraction, and I wouldn't be surprised to see versions of those shows pop-up at DHS and AK.

And in reality how different are RnR, SM, and BTM? Yes they are all radically different themes each with their own eccentricities, but their initial complexity gives Disney a bit more to work with. Dumbo is so simple it would be hard to do more than change the appearance.

It really comes down to Dumbo is simple technology that is easy to build, maintain, and retheme, that pleases a large portion of visitors. So why not replicate it? It's not really drawing funds from other resources, there's no R&D. I bet it cost less to build another spinner than it does to refurb Splash or Space Mountain.

It's not the attraction itself that's the problem - it's what it did to the ambience and traffic of Adventureland. If it were built in its own separate Arabian themed mini-land (like it will be at TDS), rather than shoehorned into a carefully themed Polynesian plaza at one of the biggest hubs in the Magic Kingdom, then it would be much better. But it wasn't.

I know it wasn't popular. I just liked it. The animals were cute and I liked the storyline and music. The fact that is was usually sung by stunningly attractive young women in leather mini-dresses didn't hurt. :)

I am surprised that the space has been dormant for so long. I assumed when they cancelled the show they had a replacement lined up, but I guess not.

to say nothing of the fact that Small World, POTC, the Mexico Pavilion ride are all re-themed boat rides. And how many times was Disney doing those attractions with 360 degree screens for a while?

I might join the campain for Fix the Yeti!

I read a post on a nother forum. This guy thought of replacing Wonders of Life with a weather dark ride. He said you would experience blizzards, rainstorms, earthquakes, ect... But i think that would be better to replace Universe of Energy :) Just another "movie ride". Think about it, the waiting room could be some kind of safety movie or something. Then you enter the next theatre, which is decorated like a snow storm. You get in your car, and you watch a 3-D movie, and it looks like the snow is piling on you! :king: Then as usuall, enter that small dinosaur room, keep everything in there tho! (except maybe ellen) Just add some cool special affects, with medior showers! Then they can make a new expansion to the ride, and the ride keeps moving, it does NOT stop for a movie. (i like dark rides) so you enter the next room, and you experience a flood. Then (with your 3-D glasses still on) you go to the theatre (after you come from the dinosaur area, but after the expansion), once you're at the 2nd theatre, you then watch your 2nd 3-D movie on a hurricane (with some light and wind affects). Then you finally go thru 3 SMALL rooms, spring, fall, and the goodbye room =)
