Dark Ride Thoughts!

Looking for opinions and thoughts on what anyone may think would be a good idea for a dark ride and at which park?

Put it this way, I am seeking a hypothetical client for a hypothetical design of a new hypothetical dark ride. I am trying to work on my computer skills with different programs and with a completely blank palette it is hard to decide on just one thing. So I was thinking....:brick: I will see if I can find a client to give me the idea just like work and see what turns up and then I could post the design in the Imagineers Section. Any takers?:lookaroun

I had a thought for a dark ride, to be located in the Magic Kingdom. It would be similar to the Great Movie Ride, but be located in Fantasyland and contain
only animated movies, such as, Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Alladin, the Lion King, etc. Different affects for different areas and using a overhead
rail system, similar to Peter Pan. Go to it!

I'd like to see IASW turned into a dark ride. Think about a cross between the ghosts in HM, the huffalumps in WTP, add some 3D glasses, and turn the volume up for the song. Leave it in Fantasyland - it would be great for kids.

Thanks for the input!

Edeyore, I like that idea and it leaves room for future expansion and/or alternating scenes with more current material. I will definitely look into that.

TAC, you have quite an imagination, but I think I will go with Edeyore's idea. Thanks for the input and I would be curious on how you would take IASW and turn it into a dark ride! The only thing that comes to mind to me is a new ride which would be located in the Villian portion of the park (that people keep wanting to add) and make it the opposite of what it is now. But my girls love that ride the way it is.

I would love to see Star Tours replaced with a dark ride that chronicled the critical points in the rise, fall and redemption of Darth Vader. Lucas has always said the the Star Wars saga was about that very life long journey but very few of the casual fans got that from the movies. It could be themed as kind of a lesson for new Jedi students. I envisioned a tamed down version of the cars used on Spiderman at IOA (same motion just not as fast so anyone could ride) but using anamatronics instead of 3D screen technology.

Hey Master Yoda!

Good to cross threads with you again! This is a very interesting idea as well. I do need some further info thou....'cause I have never rode Spiderman and am not familiar with that ride or animatronics. If you could fill me in I would appreciate it!

By the way how was your October visit to the world? Ours was rainy but still a blast. And I also came close to meeting a board member but just missed him.

The ride system cars simply put can rotate 360 degrees quite rapidly. I don't remember any anamatronics in the ride only 3D movie screens.

October was a blast. We did MNSSHP and the wife and I were able to go to AC on Halloween night. We have been about 3 times more since then and it looks like we will be going twice in January depending on EE previews for AP holders.

Do you have any links that show this ride? Video? etc.... I will be thinking about this idea as well. I need to put a Job Number on these. Edeyore will be File No: KB001 and yours KB002. Deadline.....lets not go there yet.

What was AC? I wish we could come down again soon but I am hoping for a double visit Oct 2006 and Feb 2007. October, because we like that time frame and Feb, because my oldest girl will turn 10 :sohappy: and we would like her to be at WDW on that day! I am hoping for a great deal during that time because it will fall during Peak season!:veryconfu

I don't have any pictures or video but I am sure they are floating around the web somewhere.

AC is the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island Rob has some good pictures at his site www.mkt3000.com

We are at WDW every February. My anniversary is on the 11th and my birthday is on the 12th so that month is never missed. Let me know when you will be there and we can try to meet up somewhere.

File Number KB001

Client: Edeyore
Project: New Dark Ride located in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom
File Number: KB001

Initial Program:
Two Story Building
Overhead Rail System Transport
Animated Disney Film sets (Beauty & the Beast, Alladin, Lion King, Little Mermaid)

Initial design concept:
Disney's newest dark ride "IMAGINATION"

Transition 01: Vehicle enters first scene by entering thru doors. (design later)
Opening Scene A: Belle in the Library reading and talking about her love for books and imagination.
Transition 02: vehicle goes thru room and up thru the wall of books which turns into a mist/smoke screen and enters the next scene.
Scene B: Enter into Beast's castle with characters singing "Be our Guest".
Scene C: move directly to the staircase with the Beast warning you not to go to the West (wing where the rose is?)
Transition 03: Vehicle turns right goes thru partial hallway and doors into another mist and then clouds to next scene.
Scene C: Enter in a cloud area with Alladin and Jasmine on a video screen flying beside you, talking and leading you down and to the right into the pridelands.
Transition 04: thru clouds to the Prideland riding past running animals and then on to the next scene.
Scene D: Simba, Pumba & Timon in the brush singing "Hakuna Matata" (sp?)
Transition 05: going thru the brush beside a river and into the ocean.
Scene E: Ariel under the Sea with Flounder and Sebastian singing "Under the Sea".
Transition 06: Out of the water and back thru mist/smoke into the library.
Closing Scene F: In the Library again with Belle telling you goodbye and keep your imagination open...and smaller versions of the characters within the Library coming out of books, behind books, etc. waving, etc.

Then the vehicle goes out doors and on to the boarding area.

This is a rough sequence and I will put it on paper and post it.
Any thoughts????:lookaroun
