The door opens and the two hooded figures from before wheel in a mahogany box with a glass pane. From the shadows steps @Dark PerGron who comes to explain the items.

"Greetings all, I hope your brainstorming is going swimmingly. The last time we brought out this little cart, we didn't manage to get rid of any of our items. For that reason, they're back!."

Cabinet of Curiosities 3.jpg

"Our first item is a strange brass lamp that my team and I acquired while travelling through the Arabian deserts. This one was in a very strange tiger-shaped cave way out in the deserts, and while the cave was filled with gold and riches, this was the only item we were compelled to grab. There appears to be something inside, but the lamp is so dusty we haven't bothered to check yet, it was simply filed into our collection. Perhaps you'll find out what lies within?

Our second item is a real doozy. When I was out visiting Norway, we came upon some ruins where this strange hammer was lying on the ground. We all tried to pick it up, but despite its small size, none of my team could lift it from the ground. I was able to lift it, we assume due to my lack of skin and simply being a living skeleton, but could one of you lift it? You'll have to find out. Touching it made me feel like I was being electrocuted by the way.

Our last item is a strange severed horn of some extinct species. We came across this while travelling through the United Kingdom. It was gifted to us by a strange man dressed as a knight living in a cave. We were looking for the Holy Grail, but this was an interesting find. We're unsure what it does, but holding it makes someone feel better than they've ever felt.

Well, those are our available items this week. If you would like to acquire one of these items, please reach out in your Dormitory Room and tell us why you deserve the item."

A dark malicious force sweeps down over the workspace of Team Legend. It envelops @TheOriginalTiki and speaks through him, the voice coming from his mouth unnatural and scary.

“Beware all, for I am the Spirit of Silence whom one of you has made the foolish mistake of unleashing upon your mortal plane. My purpose is to curse and curse I shall.

I have been bound to this soul for the remainder of this round, silencing him for the duration of what time remains. This means any and all work done by this foolish mortal not already added to your project is null and void and they may not add ANYTHING going forward.

Beware my presence and use me wisely he (or she) who wields me, for my power is great.”

With that, Tiki falls to the ground, unconscious. A strange timer appears in his pockets counting down until the project is due. He is incapacitated going forward and may not add anything else to this round’s project.

Whoever has done this, you have succeeded. Those who have not, be aware of your fellow players, you are not safe after this round ends.

If I may ask, what is the history behind Stage 31?
Not posted on the main presentation, but this was the history per our original plans (credit to Tiki):

Stage 31 - Named after Dracula's release year, Soundstage 31 is set in a very 1950s Halloween party on a Hollywood soundstage which has gone very awry due to real life monsters invading the party. The theme will be loosely based on the "Sweet Revenge" scare zone from HHN 31 and will serve as a loose in-universe explanation for the existence of a Studio theme park.

All projects are submitted and the players spend their relaxing day at their dormitories. Some enjoy the pool, others explore the @DashHaber Memorial Gardens, admiring the topiaries of our long lost (not dead) comrade. When all gather in the dining hall for dinner, a single topic is brought up.

"Hey, we still don't know who won challenge six, do we?" asks @ThemeParkPriest

"Well it is a manor of mysteries, maybe that's the real mystery." suggests @AceAstro

"Maybe the real winners were the friends we made along the way?" @Architectural Guinea Pig chimes in.

The rest of the players nod in agreement as the metal forks scrape along their plates as they all enjoy their meal.

"That doesn't bother any of you?" @ThemeParkPriest asks again, his voice cutting over the murmuring conversations.

"I mean, we have a few mysteries to solve," says @spacemt354. "You know, like who won Challenge six, if @Chaos Cat even knows they're still in the game, or who cursed Tiki."

As this is said @TheOriginalTiki looks around suspiciously, eyeing every one of the players, none of whom make eye contact back. "Maybe it's best if we don't know, that way nobody is disappointed."

"Also," @OSUPhantom jumps in. "I know the hosts are busy so they probably haven't even all voted on it yet."

"We most definitely haven't" a voice rings out from the darkness. Soon, the skeletal figure of @Dark PerGron emerges from the shadows, causing many of the players to jump.

"You gotta stop doing that man!" @Mr. Tux says, calming himself.

"My sincerest apologies." PerGron says. "Unfortunately, the last few weeks were a challenge for everyone and thus, my team and I took a long time to deliberate. Since it took so long, I figured I'd present this personally.

Dark PerGron takes an envelope and places it gently in the center of the table. "Now, open it if you must, reveal your winner, or keep it a mystery. It's up to you."

With that, he vanishes back into the shadows as the players lunge for the envelope. Priest snags it, tearing it open and reading aloud...

Challenge Six Results

Team Lore

This round was a lot closer than the previous round, but unfortunately, the timing issues once again negatively impacted this team. That and a lack of a true nighttime spectacular. While a lot of it was very good, it just didn't all come together as a whole the way Team Legend's did. Still, great effort Team Lore!

Team Legend

Team Legend eked out a win here by having more and more consistent stuff than Team Lore. Still, the multiple after hours events bogged this one down as did the website navigational challenges. It was a very close round this time, but Team Legend managed to squeak out another victory!

Dark PerGron’s Reviews

Alright, while this won’t be as timely as I wanted, we’re getting better and hopefully going forward I’ll be able to do reviews day of. Either way, I hope you all enjoyed your rest time and are fresh and rejuvenated for Challenge Eight, the first Challenge with eliminations…

Anyway, on to the projects. This round saw the addition of @Pi on my Cake to Team Lore who I think really helped the energy of the team. This round saw a few players unavailable or limited availability, as well as the still consistently absent @Chaos Cat not participating at all. With Pi’s addition, I think it really helped balance Team Lore a bit more. As for Team Legend, you guys were really firing on all cylinders teammate wise, with everyone playing an important role, well, until @TheOriginalTiki got sniped there at the end.

The Adventurer’s Club was something I never got to do, but I remember my parents visiting on one of our family trips while my grandma watched my sister and I back at the hotel (it was the pilot premiere of Phineas and Ferb that night, I remember it well). They raved about it then and still do to this day, even making Kungaloosh drinks. Because of its legendary status, it’s no secret we here on the boards have really tried to capture the importance of the Adventurer’s Club in our projects before, so this project may have seemed redundant, but I was really excited to see what you all got yourselves into. With that, let’s get into the reviews.

Team Lore- Monokuma Lounge

32 pages. Y’all did 32 pages. You’re insane.

Anywho, it should go without saying, I have never seen nor played nor heard of Danganronpa before, so I was going into this project entirely blind. That being said, I loved that you were all able to settle on an idea that maybe you weren’t all familiar with, but let the most active person steer it with the IP but came up with a simple enough style of attraction that other players could help out even without familiarity of the property. That’s how you do IP integration well, especially with more niche topics. You were able to rationalize your weird niche rather well too, I could see it fitting in well, especially if they copied it over at USJ.

Going the direction of a set story every night with overarching characters and plotlines is the right choice to go with here, I think. I always think back to the Jenny Nicholson Evermore Park video and the explanation of how frequent visitors would take all the actor’s time up and new visitors would get lost in the shuffle, and while I do think this would absolutely run that risk when it comes to interacting with the characters, I think each night being a set event makes it so the barrier of entry isn’t so bad for first timers or one-timers. It’s always nice to go in and get a beginning-middle-end and never have to worry about following up if you don’t want to. Especially because stuff like this isn’t cheap to participate in most of the time.

When it comes to the preshow, I can’t lie, I’m probably the type to skip it. The idea of a puppet bear ranting at me about murder games, maybe not my thing. But, for the people who do want to participate, I think it would probably be an interesting time. There’s clearly some loving homages here for fans that I’m sure would be fun, like picking out who’s hair is each one from the games. I won’t lie though, I was waiting way too long for the hair picture to load all the way, only to realize it was cropped.

Alright, normally I write these as I read, commenting where I find it necessary, but instead I just read the whole event and am commenting post reading. I love a good murder mystery, I’ve written and hosted many a murder mystery party for my friends and I always enjoy doing them (in fact, this game was ALMOST a murder mystery, I just couldn’t work out the logistics), so having an opportunity to participate in one at CityWalk would be awesome. That being said, I think there are maybe just a few too many components here to really follow? It could just be reading it and a real experience would be clearer, but there are just too many components to the trial going on at the end there. The rest is clear to me in how it works and I think it would be fun searching for clues and whatnot, but coming to the trial, the fact there are so many moving pieces just has me a bit confused in how it all wraps up. Like the different types of deaths are just a bit weird, I’d say keep it at one-two murders and just a straightforward whodunnit rather than all the wrenches thrown in. You have to remember, this is also a bar at CityWalk so something tells me by the trial, all the college workers who visit each night are going to be pretty blackout and confused by what’s going on. It’s definitely not bad, but maybe cut the minigames or something? Streamline it just a little bit since it’s real life and not a game anymore.

I’d probably have cut the daytime version, just keep it closed especially since there isn’t a ton of detail here, but I won’t count it against you because it’s not bad, just maybe a little bit unnecessary. It does provide the place where all the money is made:

The HHN is a nice touch as well.

Now when it comes to food and drink, that’s my favorite part of the bar experience. I’ve been to some really cool themed bars, but if the smash burgers suck or the drinks are light, I ain’t into it. The bar food picked was solid, pretzels and sliders and kebabs are good picks for snacks, though I won’t lie, all the sweets available with the alcohol has my stomach upset just reading it haha. The drinks also sound pretty solid for specials, though as someone who is not a vodka guy, the inclusion of all the vodka is a turn off, but my gf who is sitting with me as I write this looked over and said “every drink should have vodka, these guys get it.” so you get props from her to counteract my vodka dislike haha.

I’m not gonna go in-depth about the appendix, but I did appreciate its inclusion. It lets y’all go crazy with your character creation and fun you were clearly having with this project while not cramming it all into the writeup, a huge improvement from previous rounds.

Overall, while I have zero familiarity with the IP, I found myself enjoying a lot of what your project had to offer. I think the teamwork and balancing jobs done here was impressive and everyone who participated should give yourselves a pat on the back, because this was a big success!

Team Legend- The Manor of Mysteries

As cheeky as this is, you’d better not be expecting any bonus points for choosing this theme haha.

Alright, so to start out, I think Prezi is cool, I think it’s valid, and I appreciate the unique approach. That being said, I am an ageless skeleton man living in an old victorian manor, so I really appreciated the link to just a straightforward document rather than having to navigate the Prezi. I still went through it to get the feel of it all, but by the fifth time I had to backtrack to make sure I didn’t miss anything, I was really happy that you all made that choice. I know the presentation was a last minute addition by @Architectural Guinea Pig and while I appreciate the effort that goes into it, if you don’t have the time for a big unique presentation, feel free to just throw it on a Google Doc, or even a forum post. Sometimes, simplicity is key!

Before we get into the writeups, I really liked your maps and I enjoyed exploring it and seeing all the smaller rooms and secrets you had hidden, I would genuinely have a ton of fun exploring this and finding all the hidden stuff around the manor. It feels a lot like the Winchester Mystery House, an idea that would be super exciting.

But the write-ups for the main things are what really count, so let’s jump in there.

The Planetarium is neat, definitely an interesting place to spend some time, and the steampunk of it all is also really fun, I love a good steampunk element when it’s provided. As for the food, I’m a sucker for a good sauce so a collection of sauces with the onion rings sounds delightful. I’m also a sucker for a good taco, so nice to see those included. I would’ve liked to have seen some specialty cocktails here and while I understand we have some minors on the team so that maybe isn’t everyone’s forte, it’s not too hard to look some up. Or heck, just combine some stuff you know about, every drink out there appeals to someone. Even vodka drinks…

I’ve done many murder mysteries, like I’ve said, but the one my friends always want to return to is the old timey hollywood one I wrote back during the pandemic. There’s something about this vibe and experience that really appeals to people, so I think it makes sense that you went for it here. My biggest issue is how it doesn’t really fit with your theme, like this whole room, to me, feels like it could’ve been the entire project but instead just became a loose segment of one. I get it fits the portals storyline later revealed, but I just kept thinking how this could suffice all fleshed out. Again, the food here is good, though it serves more as an entire restaurant than a bar with finger food, so I’m interested in how moving around it works, but again I notice the lack of a drink menu. When making a bar, this is pretty important.

Mysteries of the Manor as a game sounds fun and makes it a reason to participate. I like how you have to get a code to really play as it allows people to just visit the bars without having to play the game, though I’d say maybe make the code easier to get. The idea of preventing crowding is maybe a bit silly when the point of the venue is to get people in to play the game and participate.

Tiki Terrace is definitely the most appealing spot to me. I love a good tiki bar (though I can’t find one anywhere near me) and I love the sugary fruity drinks, kitschy lights, and all else that goes with it. That being said, this really is just a tiki bar, not really anything out of the ordinary for one. You could stick this in Volcano Bay and it wouldn’t be out of place. I did appreciate the food and drink menu here, I’m glad it wasn’t neglected a third time.

In the end, I love the concept here, but to me, it felt like you couldn’t really settle on an idea, so you went with all the ideas and worked around it. All the parts themselves were decent ideas, but I don’t think any bit was strong enough to really make this a stand out project. I’m sure Tiki’s punishment didn’t help the development of the project, especially towards the end, but overall, I was a little bit let down with the whole of it, even if the sum of its parts are solid.

In the end, both teams provided some really interesting ideas and left me having different thoughts coming out than I did going in. Both teams should be proud of themselves and I look forward to seeing what you do next!

The Library

As the players await their results, they are ushered into the next room where they find a strange man standing in front of them. He wears striped pantaloons upon his legs, under which are red tights that go down into black shoes each with a buckle atop them. His body is wrapped in a corset over a black vest and around his wrists and neck there are white ruff collars. He has a mustache curled on each side and his hair hangs down to his shoulders and is curled as well.

"Hark, noble vagrants of Dark PerGron's Manor of Mysteries! Thou art now transported to the sanctum of knowledge, the esteemed library! Within these hallowed walls, secrets are penned on ancient tomes, awaiting thy discerning eye. Let the pages unfold the tales of yore as thou embark on the next chapter of thine enigmatic sojourn. Welcome, intrepid souls, to the bibliophilic haven that doth await."

"Oh great, the ghost of Shakespeare lives here too?" @MonorailRed questions, looking the strange man up and down.

"Ah, verily! The ethereal whispers 'pon these hallowed halls suggesteth that the spirit of the great bard himself doth linger. Methinks the ghostly echoes of Shakespeare jests maketh this manor a haven of mirth in the afterlife's grand stage!"

"English, please." @TheOriginalTiki replies, exasperated.

"Ah, pardoneth me, dear Tiki. Let the lingua franca be our vessel for discourse henceforth. How may I assist thee in the common tongue?"

"Get a load of this guy." @AceAstro jests to @Pi on my Cake standing beside them. "Either thinks he's actually Shakespeare or is really commited to the bit."

"Mr. Uh... Shakespeare?" @spacemt354 interjects. "Do you have any idea where the next prompt may be found?"

"In the vast expanse of knowledge, thou must discern a tome clad in a most peculiar guise- its binding wrought from the flesh of man. With careful gaze, unravel the cryptic verses within, for therein lies the key to the unfolding mystery. As the pages whisper secrets of ages past, proceed with caution, valiant seeker, as the next chapter unfolds in the eerie embrace of such an uncanny volume."

"Okay, so we're looking for a book bound in human skin?" @Architectural Guinea Pig says, interpreting. "Can't be too many of those lying around, and I can't imagine @Dark PerGron just left it lying out either, knowing he's a collector. So it's gotta be somewhere safe."

The strange man approaches a pane of glass with a strange book behind it. "Behold noble seekers, the elusive tome doth reside behind thine pane of glass, guarded like a relic of yore. Seek ye the encasement amidst the hallowed shelves, and with careful hands, unveil the macabre secrets that lie within. The next chapter of thy mysterious journey awaits behind the crystalline barrier.

The players struggle to get the glass pane to open, but as they struggle, @OSUPhantom sets a coffee cup down on a coaster on a desk within the library. Suddenly, the glass pane rises and the book slides forward, automatically opening itself and flipping to the main page: Challenge Eight

Here in the library, it's time to focus on stories and literature. The greatest stories are those who capture every emotion, from wonder and whimsy to fear and sadness. Keep this in mind for the next few projects...

Challenge 8: Create a brand new original show to premiere aboard the Disney Treasure cruise ship.

I may be an avid naturalist and hater of things not green, but I won't lie, I'm a sucker for a good Disney cruise. I've done a few and they're some of my favorite memories. My friends and I are planning to take the Treasure once it comes out and I can't wait.

That said, I'm a bit disappointed by the show slate. A lot of stuff I've seen before. I really wish there was something new and original coming to the ship. And that's where you come in. Your task is to create that show. You may use IP but it cannot be a retelling of a movie, it must be an original story. See the other cruise line shows for inspiration.

Also, remember, while he may be busy, @mickeyfan5534 is still a judge and something tells me he's gonna take this one pretty seriously...

This will also be the first elimination round, so be ready.

This Project will be due Friday December 15 at 11:59 EST.

Each team will also be gaining a guest reviewer with Team Lore hosting @cdunlap and Team Legend hosting @Disney Warrior. @Disney Dad 3000 will be added to both groups for potential reviews as well!

Both teams work diligently in their selected working space within the library. However, out in the main space of the room, a large ruckus can be heard as something slams around, knocking books from shelves and knick knacks off of desks. The Shakespearean man yells for attention.

“Hark! I the hallowed halls of this literary sanctum, where the odor of aged parchement lingers, and the murmur of whispers dances in the air. Behold! A large fowl, dark as midnight, a harbinger of revelations! With feathers of ink and a solemn caw, the avian emissary descends, delivering a message sealed with the fates of ye both teams. Let every eye turn to the enigmatic missive, as the pages of Destiny should unfold in this grand library of suspense!”

“What is that old coot talking about now?” Questions @Mr. Tux glancing over and seeing a raven flee the library through an opening in a large rotunda window.

“I think results from the last round are in!” @Pi on my Cake says, excitedly.

“Oh,” says @Architectural Guinea Pig. “Is that true Mr. Speare?”

“Indeed fair rodent of speech, the moment is at hand. The raven, with feathers dipped in ink, hath delivered thy results sealed within the enigmatic envelope. The air in this literary sanctuary doth crackle with anticipation as we prepare to unveil the twists and turns inscribed upon these pages of fate.”

“Somebody please just go get the envelope so he stops talking,” @OSUPhantom says, busily writing something for the project ongoing.

“I dunno, I kind of like him,” @TheOriginalTiki says. “Makes the whole thing more immersive. Say, Mr. Shakespeare, tell me about yourself!”

“NO!” The rest of the players holler in unison. @spacemt354 makes his way to the envelope and lifts it, tearing it open and reading the results:

Team Legend
While the general idea of your project was really strong, it was the lack of detail and lack of cohesion that really led to your downfall. There were very strong elements present here, but it just wasn’t enough to push it over the top.

Team Lore

You guys managed to overcome a challenge this team has had all game. You were able to take a passion project, one with a niche IP, and develop it into a really strong overall concept. I definitely had some confusion here, but overall it was a really strong effort that earned its win!

"Greetings all, I hope your brainstorming is going swimmingly. It is once again time to visit the Cabinet of Curiosities! For today's cabinet, we have visited the Manor's gift shop and picked out some of our personal favorite items for you to claim. Our team has selected some brilliant items, each sharing the same power: to mess with the opposing team. Let's begin."

The Awful Ones.jpg

"Our first item is a coffee mug with the label of a cafe or something or other. While I am not quite sure of its significance, fellow judge @mickeyfan5534 was adamant we selected this for you!

Our second item is a pick of mine. This plush of a weird little guy many of you may just be familiar with. As adorable as he is, his use brings only malice.

Our last item is a signed photograph of actor Tyler Perry who once visited the Manor of Mysteries. I just thought this one was funny to include.

Well, those are our available items this week. They all have the power to influence the opposing team's projects. The rules here are if one item is played in a round, the other two are null and void unless used against the other team. More rules and explanations will come if you claim the item. If you would like to acquire one of these items, please reach out in your Dormitory Room and tell us why you deserve the item."

Yeah, honestly this is just saying the quiet part out loud at this point, really. With everything going on with me IRL, both good and bad, I just couldn't find time for this comp. Sorry, everyone. :(
