I'm not sure blame is the exact right word, but Eisner and Wells certainly had very different priorities than the executives who built EPCOT Center. That certainly accomplished nothing short of saving the Company.
I agree, but I can understand that Company>Park. I don't think that is a wrong decision at all. Perhaps when they were done it was too late for Epcot. I'm not sure that is really for us to decide or know...

I am no legal expert, but I think that could probably be worked with. For example, you are providing consent for Disney to use your image merely by entering the park.
I work in research and while some passive research (surveys mainly) would be okay, anything that would involve any sort of demographic information, much less ingesting genetically altered food (not that I think there is something wrong with that kind of food, just saying) would require a 10 page consent form.

Not inferior, just different.
Agreed! Now if we can just get the rest of the forums on board!

This is not quite true. EPCOT was seen as boring and it was immediately clear something had to be done. New concepts and attractions were put on a fast track for completion to overcome the "boring" aspect. An over-population of epic length dark rides full of "education" was the primary cause.

Immediately clear? So The Living Seas and Wonders of Life were efforts to change the "boring" aspect?

The first "exciting" attraction wasn't planned until 1996...that's 14 years later and I think most of that was due to GM's request to change the attraction to keep their contract.

Body Wars opened in 1989 with Wonders of Life I believe. That was the first thrill ride that Epcot had. I believe Maelstrom opened shortly after that, and that was deemed a mild thrill, a slight notch above Pirates of the Caribbean.

It wasn't until Test Track opened that it had any major thrills however. The forums opinions of Test Track aside, I do feel that it was necessary to maintain that park's attendance. Now with that said, I think Soarin is a much better addition, but I do enjoy both attractions.

To respond to the person that said the MK could be considered a giant "Imagination Pavilion" in a sense that is right. That is why I have always found "Imagination" at Epcot a bit repetative. I think Epcot Center would have been much better served if the pavilion had been dedicated to Imagineering. I just think it would fit Epcot perfectly. Since "Animation" has a "pavilion" at DHS, shouldn't the Imagineers have a pavilion at Epcot? Just a thought.

PS- Sorry for the thread drift,I didn't do it :lookaroun

I have suggested this as well. I would love to see Dreamfinder and Figment host an imagineering attraction that either shows some ideas that never came to fruition, or some that did, from blue sky to final product.
