Daddy wants to ride! (? about M:S)

So, we are leaving on Monday to spend the week at Disney World and I am totally geeking out with my planning... :p

When we go to EPCOT, I really want to try Mission:Space but I'm pretty sure my wife won't and my son (just under 3) can't. Is there something at the ride (exit area? pre-board area?) that can keep them occupied while I go on? I'm either gonna do the single rider line or Fast Pass it so I don't plan to keep them waiting a long time. Any ideas/thoughts are most appreciated.

(Also want to do Test Track--I think I do remember something there, but it's been awhile. Thoughts on that?)

there are some space-themed exhibits in the post-show, including a video game where players at the pavillion can interact with people on the web (i'm assuming that they're still there anyway)

what i recommend is having her pick an attraction close that she wants to do and you guys ride your attractions and meet up afterwords. That is what my parents always did when we were little. That way if my dad didnt want to ride a ride or my mom didnt they got to ride something they enjoyed. Hopefully i didnt confuse you

There is plenty to do at the M:S pavilion including a small playground single player video games and a team video game. If they want to do an attraction send them to Universe of Energy. If you catch it right you might be able to squeeze in TT and M:S while they are in UOE.

if they go in thro the m;s exit they go into a great space store and then thro to a space themed play area where you can send '' free'' yes 'free' emails to friends back home and play games and other stuff whilst they wait for you to come off the ride

Also, I'd probably try the single riders line before fastpass, last year i went through it twice (the week after easter) and once it was a small line, one time none. Although I think they change up the last bit of queue at times. Hm... come to think of it I don't think I've ever used standby for m:s. the first year was previews, so no wait there.... but now i'm just talking to myself. :lookaroun

I was in the same situation as you, and did M:S 2 different times. The first, wife and son went over to Living Seas and I met up with them there. The second time, they browsed around MouseGear (dangerous proposition leaving my wife unsupervised in a Mickey store :p )

I did ride the once and enjoyed parts but not all, but my husband really enjoyed it. So there are games at the exit area. I play away while my husband rides!

There's some sort of kiosk nearby where your wife can fill out an life insurance form like in an airport, if she needs something to occupy her time.
I jest.

The ride doesn't really last long, so they'll most likely be fine in the space themed store in the time it takes you to go on.

Or, it's not a long walk to the really big store 'Mousegear', where even if they don't buy anything will keep them occupied the whole time. I know I could have spent a lot more time in there.

Thanks everyone! That helps!

We do both have cell phones and I could send her and the little one to another attraction, but I want my cake and eat it too. :p It's the first time we are going with our son and I don't want to miss any of his reactions on anything.

It sounds like the post show area will work out fine...though, I must say, I am intrigued by the life insurance kiosk... :D

Thanks again!

Here is an off-the-wall idea. Have the wife and child come to Epcot about 30-60 minutes after you. You get there at opening and do Space and TT and when they get there an hour later, you are good to go.

The extra sleep might not be a bad thing depending on where in your trip you hit Epcot.

Now that's just crazy talk! ;)

I think that would be cool except that our EPCOT day is our first full day there and they will be chomping at the bit to get to the park ASAP.

Have fun on M:S. The family might enjoy the Space Training center at the exit. Also, don't forget to get to Soarin' very early if at all possible. The lines get CRAZY long and the single rider lines at M:S move quickly. The whole family should enjoy Soarin' and its an awesome, not to be missed ride!

Oh, then that wouldn't work. If it was day 4 or 5 it is nice to give the little ones a little extra sleep.

Oh well, if you hit M:S first, they should be able to occupy their time in the post show part of the ride when you ride.

This is where I took my 3 year old to wait for my husband to ride Mission Space. I love and recommend doing this because twice Mickey and Goofy came out in astronaut suits and interacted with us and the others while we waited. It was cool because not many people knew they were in there because you could not see that from outside.
