D23 Questions

My girlfriend is the process of purchasing a D23 membership as I type this and we are only 2 weeks out from being at the World. My question is how prevalent if at all is D23 exclusive merchandise at the parks. In particular I'm an avid pin collector and wondered if the D23 exclusives that I've seen online are available at the parks. Thanks:)

Hi, You can purchase one type of merchandise at DD. (Downtown Disney) I think probably at the main Disney Shop :) Now, the one type of merchandise is the magazines.. But you really do have to look very hard for these :) I found them last time I went at about April this year and they were behind a Paydesk. I was really happy they were there because I cant get them in the UK :( Hope that helps and hope you find what you want :)

Thanks for the info. I'm sure if I see them I'll buy a magazine. I was just kinda hoping they'd have some of D23 pins but I can always get them online as MKCP said.

For anyone looking for the magazines while at WDW, in addition to World of Disney at Downtown Disney, the Animation store at the exit of the Animation attraction in the Studios usually has them. I've seen them in AK as well, in the Discovery Island shop to the RIGHT as you approach the Tree of Life. I've also seen them at the Main Street Cinema in the MK, but not as frequently as the first two places I mentioned. Art of Disney at Epcot probably stocks them as well. Obviously, the closer it is to the release of a particular issue, the more likely it is they will be in stock at these locations.

If World Of Disney (or any of these stores) is out, they can look up on the computer anyplace in the entire resort that might have them. This was helpful to me once, as one of the magazines I was looking for was sold out at World of Disney and in the parks, but still available at a few of the resort gift shops. I ended up getting it at Coronado Springs.

I've since found out Barnes and Noble carries the magazines, so now it's less urgent for me to find them at WDW!

I have every issue so far and really enjoy them!

BTW, managers at any gift shop, including in the parks, can tell you where anything is located anywhere in the resort, if they have the product number (I think its called a "SKU number" or something like that). I've tracked down books, t-shirts, and plush I was looking for this way, when the particular store I was in was out of what I wanted.

The D23 thing is pretty useless. We got one with the hopes of discounts and the such for WDW. I think this membership is being targeted for the west coast.

Unfortunately there is no D23 exclusive merchandise available in the parks. For pins/t-shirts/etc the online store is the best source.

Once the membership is issued and you can get yourself set up as a recognized D23 member in the online store, ordering/purchasing is pretty much like any other Disneystore.com website. Being a member myself, I picked up a couple of the pins available to D23-ers. As long as the items are in stock the shipping turnaround is quite nice. Had my purchases within 5 business days on average.

If you aren't able to make it to the parks when D23 plans meet-ups for their members (like me...I live 8 hours away from WDW by car...) where special items are given don't forget that there's something extra sent with the magazine subscription. For example, the most recent issue that D23 members are receiving have a patch included of one of nine different old EPCOT Futureworld attraction logos.
