Buh bye Mickey's Toontown! Suddenly this Miceage map from a couple days ago has a lot more credibility.

More information to come in about two hours when the Parks & Resorts panel begins at 3:00!

Would be kind of awesome if the FL Theater bit the dust too. ;)

I wonder what'll happen to the DLRR in this plan?

The biggest news, nothing for DCA. Man you thought attendance was paultry at DCA before, phase 2, then you ain't seen nothing yet. The attendance disparity between the 2 parks is going to be unbelievable and DL is going to be insanely crowded, everyday.

I'm excited for Soarin' over the World. I know it would be hard to pull it off, but I would've loved to see Soarin' get a Star Tours like random mode. Have a different film for different countries and end at each Disney park. Probably would've had to do one film a day and change out the smells daily I'm guessing.

I 2nd that the location should be California in DCA. I'm very disappointed. It was the one attraction that really amplified the theme and made the park work, thematically.

The location should always be California in DCA. I'm slightly disappointed.

I think it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Don't swap out the film, everyone's upset that all the other parks have a brand new show and we're stuck with one that's 15 years old. Swap it out, and people are upset the theme's focus has been taken off of California. Honestly, if I was a betting man... I'd say the larger crowd is the one that'd be upset we didn't get the nice shiny new show the other parks get. :)

I'll all for updated, new footage of California. I don't think the original film should be kept, whatsoever. But it should stay in California.

I don't think its that bad to be honest. While I'd prefer the locations to be California, its not that far fetched for the air crafts (or whatever the hell you're supposed to be flying in) to travel to other places. I don't think every attraction in DCA has to take place in California. The theme is still solid as long as the attractions fit the lands they're placed in, and those lands fit the CA theme.

I don't know if you're a local or if you ever visited the original DCA, but Soarin' Over California was one of few, if not the only attraction that genuinely impressed us in the whole park. Now the new DCA is better, but a lot of the California in it is now either gone or very subtle. Soarin' Over California is the one opening day attraction that's not only a great ride, but also very Californian. It should stay that way.

I am local, but I only visited DCA right before they started the refurb so I don't have the same connection to it as someones who's been visiting since it opened. while I love Soarin (it was actually the first ride I went on at DCA) I still can't say I mind the change. I would prefer a new CA film though.

I've wondered that too. Obviously it's going to have to be a tunnel and the train won't be able to be seen from Star Wars Land. But they could do a show scene of some sort inside the tunnel, or perhaps another diorama type experience.

Two Way mirror that looks into the land somewhere could work too.

Yeah, that would be cool too. Kind of like a bigger version of the Splash Mountain finale scene with the railroad looking down from plate glass windows above. But you'd need to disguise or hide the windows for anyone inside Star Wars Land.

You know, now that I think about it, why doesn't that Splash Mt./DLRR setup bother any of the Disney fans who always obsess and insist Disney sticks to its themes religiously? You've got the big finale to the ride with singing chickens and guitar playing alligators, and right above you are these giant department store plate glass windows where a full size railroad passes by with tourists waving at you. Weird.

If they did that today in the Internet Age, I bet there'd be a bunch of fans who would claim it ruined the "show" and was just TDA and/or Evil Iger trying to publicize the new ride to more Disneyland customers to sell more merchandise. Or something.
