Hello fellow Canucks. I was on the Disney website today looking up ticket prices where there is currently a promo for saving 25%, and I see this posted on the site. So am I reading this correctly that we would have to bring our passports with us to the park? Who brings there passport with them to the parks? Have any of you encountered this, or is this how it's always been?

  • Tickets will be sold as exchange certificates, which must be redeemed at the theme park Main Entrance for admission.
  • All Guests must present a valid Canadian passport to exchange the certificate for a valid ticket at the theme park ticket window or Guest Relations prior to first use.

Are you talking about a specific promo for Canadian citizens? If so, even though it's an inconvenience I understand the company wanting proof that someone is actually Canadian

Disney also requires passports for proof of age if you're drinking in the parks if you're a foreigner. I suspect it's because dates are not as confusing as some other forms of ID.

The promo was specific for Canadians, yes. However even without going thru the promo link when I go thru the Disney World website and click on, "Theme Park Tickets" a menu pops up that has me selecting either, "Product and Prices for All Guests" or, "Product and Prices for Canada Residents".

Under "View Details" it says all guests who use Canada Resident tickets must present a passport prior to first use.

Is this going to make a difference to those of us with a package trip booked or a trip with a different discount?

I currently have a trip booked for late January that is a room on WDW property and 10-day park hoppers. There's no dining plan so there should be no reason I can't have the room and tickets separate, and get the Canadian price on the park tickets?

When the usual January discounts are released, I should be able to have a room-only discount and discount tickets as well?

I'm not seeing the big deal. They need you to show proof of Canadian residency and photo ID. Just bring them with you on that first day. If you're worried about losing or damaging them in the park, rent a locker and put them in there when you enter the park. Or pick them up the night before, if that works for you.

And Mony was right about needing passport proof of drinking age at WDW. This is required of all international guests in Florida. But in this case Disney will allow a color photocopy of the front page + your DL. I wouldn't count on them allowing this for your tickets, though.

I remember (years and years ago) another ticket promo for Canadians where we had to show proof of residency to pick up the tickets.

Are you currently booked with a package or room only reservation? Did you book your tickets with your reservation or separately?

If they give you a discount on the ticket portion of a package, you wouldn't be able to add on a package discount later, without losing the ticket discount. But you could probably get a room only discount if it's offered.

If you have a room only reservation, and booked tickets separately, then you'll have to call Disney to see if they'll apply the discount to your already purchased tickets.

Technically, it's a package, but there's currently no discount applied and no real benefit to it being a "package" at this point.

Since I've only paid the deposit, nothing says I can't cancel and rebook as two separate entities: room only and tickets only. I have no intention of getting the play, stay, and dine package deal.

Either way, I'll let my travel agent try and sort it out. $264 potential savings on the park tickets.

I wonder if these are upgradable to APs? $100 off an AP would be nice. Similar to other discounted tickets, once you've used part of it it upgrades at the gate value rather than the discounted price? That would make it worthwhile to me...
