Trip Report Cycling through Celebration, a cream cheese covered remote and the Closed Wallet Rebellion of 2016.

So last week we spent seven nights in a one-bedroom at Saratoga Springs Resort in the Congress Park section. We like Congress Park and have stayed in that section before. The walk over to Disney Springs is fun and since the new section just opened with several new shops and restaurants, we walked over several times during the week.
I think the first evening there is when I declared the wallet closed and decided to try to save a dollar or two this trip. What started it was sticker shock at some of the prices I was seeing.
But let's start at the beginning and I'll go into more detail later.
We got an early start and arrived to WDW via the 535 entrance to Hotel Plaza Blvd.:

We often find ourselves taking a boat ride up the Sassagoula River to FQ and POR just for the scenic view and pleasant diversion. This trip would be no exception. I used to get a Magic Cookie Bar at POR but passed this trip, partly because of so much sugar content and partly because of my vow to spend very little this trip.

Back at DS we did finally make a purchase. My wife was intrigued by the kiosk on the walkway between Rainforest and the Lego Store area that sells plumeria cuttings. We bought a few and have them in pots attempting to root them and grow our own. They are tropical plants that are used to make Hawaiian leis. The young lady who sold us the cuttings gave my wife a lei. She was very friendly and helpful in educating us about plumeria. Hopefully they will thrive. We will have to bring them in when the fall weather arrives, but we have all summer to try to grow them.

So that is about it. We had another great trip, a trip that admittedly may seem strange. I mean, why go to WDW and not go to the theme parks? It is kinda like why go to the beach but not swim in the ocean or why go to a Ski resort and not snow ski. Well, we have been to the ocean several times when it was too cool to swim, but still had a great time. We have been to Breckenridge, Colorado and Stowe, Vermont and not skied and still had a great time. We have been to a casino and not gambled, been to a winery for the tour and not had a sample because we don't drink. We have been to a steakhouse and had salmon.
We got back from this trip in time to have a Memorial Day cookout and picnic on the porch. I grilled hamburgers. The great sacrifice made by our veterans so we can enjoy simple things like a grilled hamburger can never be repaid. We can say a prayer of gratitude but no amount of thank you, at least to me, will ever seem enough.
