With Disney at the DCA offering cutprice tickets to encourage people to visit and the general slow down of the economy. Is this also being reflected in the attendance figures at WDW? Are they planning anything to encourage more visitors ?

Are the parks less busy than normal for this year?

Any comments would be appreciated.

well the place should be packed, the hotels packed also. But that isnt happening. due to increased prices. It would be nice if they would slash some of the prices. But I doubt it. there most likely to rasie the prices before they cut them. :-)

I dont know about the official numbers..but I can tell you that from personal observations that the parks are a LOT less crowded than usual for this time of year (post graduation). This is one of the Disney "peak" seasons (Christmas, thanksgiving etc are much larger) and it looks like they are suffering.

Of course...the only way to get discounted tickets are to be a Florida Resident (woohoo!)...with such things as the "Play for 4 days" pass and the Seasonal and annual passes...all great values for those of us who go there more than 8 days a year. Those tickets usually pay for themselves after 5 days...its great!

::heres a little tip for you florida residents::

Wanna save 5 bucks? Buy the Play for 4 days pass for 99 bucks...then...on your last of the 4 days...go to the ticket counter and ask to upgrade your ticket to a seasonal. They will charge you the difference...but when you add it up in the end..it comes to be 5 bucks cheaper. (hey...its almost a days worth of parking..unless of course you are smart and park at downtown disney and take a bus to the parks)...

Also, I have mixed feelings about decreased crowds. I'm sorry if Disney is suffering financially, but it makes it easier to get around the parks, get on rides, buy food, etc. For the last few years, even the "off" season was getting too crowded! I didn't like the combination of shorter hours, less shows, AND still throngs of people!
